******* HORRIBLE. Wasted a month and a half to 2 months on these ********. This company is one of if not probably the WORST company I’ve ever worked with. Underhand tactics to **** us over financially, and actually pulling illegal Ableism moves against my grandma; they won’t work with us because “my grandma has dementia” or so the medical experts at EMPIRE TODAY said so. Horrible company. . NEVER. Never. NEVER. Hire. Empire. Today.

Signed a contract in April for carpet installation in May and included moving of ALL furniture (and the sales rep saw ALL the furniture)...the installers were halfway done (half the old carpet gone, no new carpet installed, half the furniture moved) when they had me the phone and their supervisor tells me that since I have too much furniture, too heavy furniture, they will need an additional $200. Didn't matter that the contract I signed covered moving the furniture. What am I supposed to do but agree since I can lay the carpet and I can't move the furniture? Contacted Customer Service at Empire and was told that since I agreed to the installer's supervisor that I would pay the additional (agreed under duress) there was nothing they could/would do. Didn't matter that I had discussed this with the sales rep and didn't matter that I had signed a contract. Now I'm concerned that the installers will not do a good job since I have complained. Quite a racket that the installers can decide they need more $$$ to complete the job

Working with Empire Today has been a complete nightmare, and I would not recommend them to anyone. I have paid for everything, but have yet to get the tile even scheduled because of their lack of communication. From the beginning, this has been a horrific experience. My original install dates for both carpet and tile was April 15th. At this point I had not paid for anything. On April 14th, I received two confirmation emails (one for carpet, one for tile), confirming my install was to happen the next day, April 15th. At 1230 on that Saturday, I had not heard from anyone, so I called the 1-800 number. They said my carpet showed it was to be installed the 17th (even though I scheduled this for the 15th, and had a confirmation email saying so), but they said the tile installed should have called by now, so they reached out to him. He claims he called me several times and was even out in front of my house, but since I didn't answer, he went to the next job and was not coming back that day. I had zero missed calls, and he even admitted to the empire rep that he did not leave a voicemail or knock on my door (even though he was sitting outside my house). He also did not contact empire to let them know he could not reach me. So I had to reschedule both carpet and tile for the following Saturday, the 22nd. The tile installer shows up shortly after 8a.m., I pay form the tile, and he begins work. The carpet installer shows up shortly after 9am, and sees that I am having tile done in the same room, and he says he cannot do the carpet while the tile is being done. So I have to reschedule the carpet, AGAIN. After about 6.5 hours of the tile installer being there, he calls me down to y basement. He shows me the tile, and says he cannot complete the job because some of the tile is 1/16th of an inch too big, so it is not lining up properly. He has to rip everything out that he has done and start over after he gets more tile in. He told me he would get more on Tuesday, but I had already scheduled the carpet to be done Tuesday, so he said he would come back to do the job (that I have already paid for) on Wednesday. I called on Saturday the 22nd to speak with a supervisor about all of this, but nobody ever called back. So on Tuesday the 25th, my carpet finally gets installed. I call to verify that my tile is still scheduled for Wednesday, the 26th, and they do not see that in their system. I ask to speak with a supervisor. I finally get a hold of one, and he tells me the installer should not have told me he would come back on the 25th. He says he will look into this and call me back in an hour. I never heard back from him. I called him back and left a message, still never heard back. I called the 1-800 number, and finally got a hold of a different supervisor, who told me the tile would not even be in stock until Thursday, the 27th. I asked if it would be possible to have it installed on a Sunday since they had made so many mistakes and that was the earliest day that worked for me. He said he would check with the installers, and assured me he would call me the following morning (Wednesday morning). By Wednesday afternoon I had heard nothing, so I called him back. He said his installer was unavailable on Sunday, so I asked him to contact a different installer. He said he was going to do that, and would call me back that same day. Never heard back from him. I now have an area of my basement that has had the originally flooring ripped out, and I have paid this company $1100 for this job. They have failed to contact me numerous times, even when I was told I would receive a call back by a specific person.

Not having experience with any other floor layer, I don't have confidence in saying that I wasn't real thrilled with their work.  Compared to other floor layers they may have did an okay job.  There were a few things that I thought I should have been informed of.  There were some things that there expertise and knowledge should have spotted right off the bat, but they didn't tell me about it. I don't think I would recommend them to someone else.  I'd probably show them what I had done and why I was disappointed in the darn thing.  There was a part of the floor, the elevation was different.  It was higher, and if they were experts and were really experienced and floor savvy, they should have walked into that house and immediately looked down at the floor and said, "hey, we have two different elevations here.  This floor is higher.  Now if we want the whole floor  covered with hard wood, hardwood floor, the floor is going to be raised a 1/2 inch higher than it is right now."  And they didn't say that.  They didn't tell me.  So they covered the floor and left the seam. By not fixing that elevation, I can't get the dishwasher out if it goes bad.  I had to cut the cabinets because the fridge wouldn't fit anymore with the floor.  We also had a little desk that wouldn't fit.  The workmanship was fine.  The men were fine. Everybody was nice and friendly.  But they didn't see that!  They should have told me about that.  But they didn't.  And that tells me they don't know what the hell they're doing. As far as I'm concerned they are a horrible outfit. There was another thing.  I told them the floor creaks real bad before they did it.  And they told me well we don't tighten the floors if they squeak before we put our wood down.  But when they came, they did do that.  Although they did miss a few spots. But I wish now I had let them take the squeaks out of the floor and told them to get the hell out. That's what I wish I had told them. If the floor had been done correctly, the price was probably okay.  But it wasn't. They subcontract all their work out.  They don't have any of their own people.  I didn't know that.  It took them a long time to do it.  The two guys were professional boxers. They said it would take a few days, but it took them longer than 7 days. But anyways, if someone asked me who could I recommend, I would NOT recommend them guys.  I never had to call them back.  I was glad when they got the hell out of here.  The guys were alright.  But the salesmen, if I had to do it all over again, I would tell them to grab their samples, and get the hell out.  It's alright though.  We can live with it.  I just wouldn't recommend them to anyone.  I'd give them a big ole "F" on everything, come to think of it. They two young guys that came out did a good job.  It was the salesmen that I was not pleased with.

The first problem was that the materials had not arrived by the date scheduled, so we had to delay nearly a week, despite my having pre-planned and pre-scheduled to avoid this by planning well in advance. (This was not a job that was rushed with installation following quickly right after purchase. It was a couple months after purchase.)   Once the work was started, the crew that did the tile and laminate did a very nice job. The carpet crew seemed to really rush to get it all done in a day; I had to have several areas fixed afterwards that were poorly done. The biggest gripe I have is that there was no communication between the various crews, so there was no one but me to keep calling and nagging the central office; this was necessary because they did not have the right materials for the transition areas where tile met carpet, or laminate met carpet, etc.  No one seemed to be responsible for that.  If I had not kept dogging the office, these areas would not ever have been finished.  Likewise, the sales person didn't tell the kitchen tile installer that they were to re-use old quarter round trim (I don't know why...) so they tore it out, and then it required another visit to fix it. I had to call repeatedly to try to find out when someone could take care of these areas. It was maddening.  All in all, the tile and laminate came out looking great and that team did a very nice job.  The carpet is OK, but the overall process as a whole was chaotic.

The salesman was well informed and provided options, pros, and cons for the project. The carpet installer moved the furniture with little effort, removed the old carpet, installed the padding and new carpet in my office (12' x 12') in short period of time. The completed carpet project was high quality and gorgeous.

There were a few more challenges with the laminate wood for my connecting exercise room, in that, (1) it was scheduled for one day but was rescheduled twice due to the contractor crews being busy with other jobs, and (2) having an issue with transitional pieces for the laminate connecting the office carpet and another room which had ceramic tile. Empire Today representatives kept me informed about the delays and provided me a discount for the delays. The laminate contractor worked with me to get the issue with the transitional pieces resolved. The completed laminate project is beautiful and I am very satisfied.

They did a great job at a great price, and did in in a very timely manner. It was especially complicated because the home is a pentagon shape and none of the rooms are rectangular. Even the estimator said it would be an extraordinarily difficult installation. But the installers breezed through it without a problem and did a beautiful job. The installers even told me before beginning that it wouldn't be a problem. Another company I contacted backed out of the running even before doing an estimate when they heard about the oddly shaped rooms.

Empire Today had been advertising a lot.Scheduled the appointment , They have to know what type of flooring you are interested in (carpet, wood etc) , Saleman comes out with samples of carpet to choose from. The brand name was Shaw. When time for installation, I check the color of the carpet it was ok, but then I wasn't sure of the quality, it look thin cheap to me. once the pad was placed the carpet appear to be ok. .Do:shop for flooring from your favorit store where there is a greater selections and where there are knowlegeable salemen to answer questions up front.
