+ 1 moreThe start date for job was established and there was only a slight delay. This was in mid-winter (a cold one) and during a bad post-storm season. The work was completed in a reasonable amount of time. There was an interruption due to extreme cold and ice, I believe, but they were back on the job asap. Everything looks fine and we have had no problems with roof, skylight or guttering. There was a misunderstanding regarding final payment. I spoke with Mr. Kevin Pratt regarding this and he resolved it for us quickly and extended a courtesy which, in the practical terms of the contract, he was not required to do. I would do business with Mr. Pratt again.
Description of Work: Century Roofing removed our wood roof, installed a comp roof, new gutters and replaced a skylight.

+ -1 moreI had a few problems with Century Roofing. They took forever to get to us. They also left a truck in the front of our house for four days. The workers brought their children to play in our front yard. The kids were hammering on the sidewalks and my driveway. They ended up giving us a discount because my husband and I were so upset. I have heard other stories from friends about worse roofing companies. I was happy with how they understood that we were upset and gave us a discount. The product itself was done well.
Description of Work: I used Century Roofing to replace our roof, paint the side of the house and deck, and installed new gutters.

+ 0 moreThey set up a date and time, but then on that day they had to cancel. So they rescheduled for the same time the following day. Then throughout the day they kept calling and saying they would be late, but they would be there. They finally arrived 5 hours late. Having to take off work to meet them this is not acceptable. After the guy took a look at the house he said we'd have an estimate in a couple days. We called the following Monday because we hadn't heard anything, and we were told we would have an estimate by Friday. Friday comes and goes and we don't hear anything. Once again we call on Monday and are told we'd have an estimate by Friday. This went on for several weeks. It has now been almost 4 months and we never received an estimate or any calls saying they didn't want to do the work. I guess it's great for them that they are so busy they didn't need my business, but they could have just told me that right away.
Description of Work: We contacted Century Roofing to get an estimate on replacing the roof and gutters on our house.

+ -1 moreThe quality of the work ok, but it was a horrible experience. The work was supposed to be completed in October, but they pushed it 10 weeks back, to the end of November. We had to call them to find this out, they never called us to let us know. Also, they wouldn’t move the dumpster out of the driveway, and we have a shared driveway. The salesman of the company had to arrange a tow truck to move the dumpster out of the way. To this day, we still have materials blocking our driveway, so we can’t use the garage. I wouldn’t recommend this company to others.

+ 0 moreThere were significant delays in getting the work started due to the heavy demand from spring storms. The quality of the work was excellent, but the communication was less than desirable. The representative did not return my calls when trying to get updates on the scheduled work. The lack of responsiveness to my phone messages were particularly problematic for me to coordinate with my insurance company and mortgage company. The representative told me that he didn't want to return my messages when he didn't have any information to provide. Even after I told him that I would be understanding of the reasons for delay if shared with me, he still did not return my calls. While I liked the eventual outcome (good quality for a reasonable price), I did not appreciate the poor communication. I anticipate that the customer service may be better under less demanding workloads.
Description of Work: Put on a new roof and replaced most of the guttering.

+ -1 moreOverall, we are very pleased with our new roof. The Century Roofing workers were extremely diligent. They arrived on time and ready to start each day at the appointed time, took a brief lunch break and a short break about 3:00 pm, and the rest of the time they were WORKING. We were especially pleased that they stayed an extra hour or so on Tuesday, 10/11/2011, to ensure that the entire roof was covered with tarpaper because the weather forecast was for rain the next morning. Everyone we worked with from Century Roofing seemed to be knowledgeable, pleasant, and committed to doing the job right. Our experience with Century Roofing was excellent. ,
Description of Work: We requested an estimate from Century Roofing for replacing our shake shingle roof with a composite shingle roof. The Century Roofing representative did a thorough inspection, discussed various options with us, suggested increasing the number of soffit vents, and gave us an estimate. We felt the estimate was reasonable and we were able to schedule the work to begin immediately after our return from a lengthy road trip. The Century Roofing representative got the necessary city building permit. The materials were delivered the morning of 10/10/2011 and the work crew arrived about 11:00 am (they were delayed by a brief morning rain - the first rain in weeks). The work crew removed the old shake shingles, laid down plywood boards and tarpaper, and then attached the new Tamko shingles. The crew did an excellent job of cleanup of all the old wooden shingles. The work was inspected twice by the Shawnee Codes Administration Division of the Public Works Department. Both inspections were satisfactory. The work was completed about 4:30 pm on Wednesday, 10/12/2011, with the addition of several new soffit vents.

+ 0 moreThey were very professional and courteous, came out to give a quote when they said they would, and had the most reasonable price. They did a good job of installing the new skylight and replacing the venting seals. My biggest problem was that it was hard to get a call returned after I told them I wanted them to do the job. The job kept getting delayed due to Century having to replace many roofs damaged by hail earlier in the year. Since my skylight was leaking, they finally were able to get me worked into their schedule and were very apologetic about the delay. My overall impression is that they are a good company to do business with.

Set up a date/time for an estimate with him. On June 6, I called to cancel the 6/7 estimate. On June 7, I called to reschedule another estimate and Kyle seemed miffed that I had cancel previously. Consequently, I did not setup another date/time for an estimate and took my business elsewhere.

I chose another company, but the decision was very close.I checked that I would not use this company in the future ONLY because (1) I was very satisfied with the company I did use and would likely go with them again, and (2) that it is highly unlikely I will need roofing services again, and definitely not soon.

Office lady told me they would call back in a few days, I didn't hear back until I finally called a second time and then she had one of them finally call me. They came out and surveyed the shingles that were hanging off the roof. They told me they would go up and replace the loose ones that day that they were looking at it. They were very busy, but knew it was a smaller job they could get done quickly, so after they had lunch they came back and did the job very well and in good time.

Curtis also pointed out and explained some of the bigger issues (pitch on one section not great enough for type of roofing material) with the roof that no one else had mentioned - that'll help me when the entire roof needs to be replaced in a couple of years.. When I let them know to go ahead and perform the work, he was able to do it very quickly. I'll definitely call this company when more work is needed. Oh, and I put NA for Quality just because there is no way I'm getting on that roof to look for myself! I'm fine with making a bit of an assumption about that. :)

They talked to us after they gave us the estimate. They were pretty professional about everything. Everybody in the area is getting their roofs done. All the roofing companies are really busy. It's hard to get anybody to even come out to your house. They were right on time.

Naturally it started to rain when they got started, but the work was finished as quickly as possible. Everything turned out just fine. + 1 moreMarty M. was our "go to" guy throughout the process--from giving us options of various companies and materials within all price ranges, letting us know what was needed to protect the rear slope from leaking, and making sure Certainteed would stand behind their warranty with proper installation. Marty is a HAAG Certified Roofing Inspector. He knew his "stuff". He was always readily available for questions. He put on the finishing touches-new chimney cap, new skylight and repainted vents to match the roof. The 10-12 man crew that came to do the actual wood shingle removal and composite shingle install were excellent. It seemed like they never took a break. They were considerate of the property. They protected all the landscaping. They made sure that the large trailer collecting all the trash was not too heavy for the drive way. What was totally amazing was the small amount of materiall that fell into the attic from the tearing off of the wood roof. We couldn't be happier with the service they provided and our new roof.
Description of Work: The roof was 5300 sq ft. The old wood shake roof and lightning rods were removed. The house was redecked with 7/16 techshield radiant barrier sheathing with 36 inch type-30 felt paper over decking and then Certainteed Grand Manor luxury shingles were installed. They also installed: new step flashing at all roof walls as needed; ice and snow shield leak barrier on all bottoms, new gutter guard metal on all bottoms, pre-formed drip edge on all rakes, new plumbing flashing to all roof pipes, continuous ridge vents for proper exhaust ventilation required by manufacturer, white soffit vents for proper intake ventilation required by manufacturer, 20 inch W-formed metal valley, premium high definition ridge cap, vented drip edge on rear slope for proper intake ventilation, and baffles in vaulted areas. They also reflashed the chimney, replaced and reflashed skylight, reinstalled the lightning rods and cleaned up all trash created by removal and installation of roof, and ran a magnetic sweep. They also removed the old guttering and downspouts and replaced them with 6 inch gutter and 3x4 downspouts.

The roofers did a nice job and cleaned up very well. The work was performed in day(smaller house/1200sq), they did have some cleanup the next morning. Cewntury and Brian were very easy to work. Would highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreI initially contacted 5 - 7 different roofing companies for estimates. I was immediately impressed with the personal service and genuine concern that was shown to me by Century Roofing. Their salesman took the time to meet with me in person, explain the various options, and I was never pressured to make a quick decision. My request for references was also provided to me in a timely fashion including a list of other homes that allowed me to view their work, contact homeowners, and the opportunity to actually see what the different types and colors of roofs that were available. Their price was very competitive. Once the work began, the roofing crew only removed that portion of roof that they would be able to complete that day. They were courteous and always willing to answer questions whenever I asked. I was extremely pleased with their craftsmanship and the extra effort in cleaning up the yard. I can recommend this company without any reservations.
