Century Roofing

Don't trust Century Roofing because they don't stand by their work, and they are not trustworthy. I've had Century Roofing replace my roof 6/2019. They gave me a quote to replace my roof and included in the contract was to replace a "RUSTED HVAC FURNACE FLASHING". I thought they would do a great job, so I paid them to replace the roof and all the pipes and flashing on the roof. I trusted them that this was done as per the contract. I didn't ask for pictures of all the pipes and work on top of the roof. In May of 2020, there was a big storm and we noticed that this HVAC heating stack had the top blown open. Upon closer inspection, we can see that the RUSTED FURNACE FLASHING and cap was NEVER replaced as listed on the contract. When I contacted them to replace it, they told me I had to have a HVAC specialist come out and replace the pipe, and they would not fix this RUSTED HVAC Flashing. They told me they would never replace anything that had to do with HVAC even though it was on the contract and clearly all heating stack flashing is replaced when a new roof is installed. I've never heard of any HVAC person going on the roof to replace anything. Century Roofing does not do what is listed on their contract and they do not stand by their work. Please be very careful when dealing with Century Roofing. I would not use them again and would not recommend them in the future.

The crew worked hard and did a good job.  I would have preferred a little better craftsmanship.  They arrived on time and finished in the time promised.  Good looking roof, Good job!

James was the name of them and we talked to and he did a really good job.  The company did a really good job because we had those 12-inch snowstorm and they actually replaced the skylight in the kitchen when they did the roof and we haven’t had any leaks from that at all.  My dad was a contractor and he hated skylights because he never met a skylight that didn’t leak.  We’ve got three bids and their bid was the most detailed and it explained the most.

Contact Marty McKinney. That's the best move. He'll explain you EVERYTHING. I was able to choose shingles that are way better than the ones the roofers I've seen around default to. He came back to check everything was done correctly. He's very hands-on.

They went through the contractor for my fathers work. They were sub contractor on that and they did a real good job on the roofing on his house so that is why I went them and I looked at Angie’s list and they said they were good too. They have several employees who don’t understand. Well recently it rained a lot here so the roofing has been held up and I can understand that does not need to done. We were told it would be on Wednesday  it looked like it was going to rain and then on Thursday morning and they weren’t sure they could get it all done in one day so they called and they did reschedule it for Friday and so Friday morning came and they did not come in. It was not raining and they say oh no we said Saturday because I would have remembered that would have been my weekend and I said well no one told me it was rescheduled for Saturday. They really did not give me a reason for it being rescheduled this Saturday. So Saturday morning I had roofers here all weekend. When the roofers asked me whether they could take the guttering down because I did not know when they had scheduled the guttering job for us so I called the sales men to ask and he said no I don’t have them take the guttering down because we have not got that scheduled yet. Well the roofers went ahead and took down gutters that they should not have. Sunday morning when we went out and looked at it and one section of the house we lived <9:48>coming down. The water off the roof comes to one area and if that is not guttered there is water in our basement. It was just like a . so I called the salesman again to report that you know they had done this . did it you know what can I do even though I am letting him know what is going on because this has be guttered right now. So he said well you could go ahead and move ahead and get enough guttering for that and charged the parts to us and the roofers were real good. Roofers realized it was on the fake and they waited for us to run up to the hardware store and come back with the materials. They actually put it up for us so that was good. In the phone call with the guy first of all when I told him he was taking the gutters down first he said well they would not have done that unless you told them to. Then I asked him . and he got real mad because . rescheduled that and he ended the phone conversation by telling me that I have ruined his weekend and he hung up on me. It was like you will never get my business. So it was very bad experience. The roof was good. The people were actually did to work were very nice. When they made the mistake with the gutters they admitted it right away that it was their fault. They knew they should not have but didn’t realize that he is just critical. They took down . One other thing that annoyed me about this company is on 06/20/14 they invoiced me for the roofing and the guttering even though the roof had not started yet. We signed a contact with them. They invoiced it on 06/20/14 as if it was all done when actually the guttering did not get done until yesterday so I was annoyed with that. This was supposed to be done in a week and a half and this was back in April I believe then there was delay because the . so we got no problems. We went on vacation while we were on vacation we got a call it is going to be another half a month and I do not know whether that was because of the schedule. This is not a company I would deal with again. The roof was okay.

Every aspect of the job was excellent from start to finish.  Marty gave me a great bid when he did a roof inspection on the house that I eventually bought, then honored that bid several months later when I called him back.  I was quickly scheduled and no payment was required until after the work was done and I was completely satisfied.  The crew that installed my roof were polite and very clean and conscientious.  They covered shrubs and my deck, however, I don't remember anything falling on the shrubs or deck at all because they carefully directed all of the old roof debris into a dumpster in the driveway.  The crew was also responsible enough to keep my gates latched so my little dog wouldn't get out.  I found no nails, cigarette butts or trash left after the job was finished.  The entire job was completed in just two days!
Marty was always friendly and helpful each time I called with a question, and it was clear that customer satisfaction was very important to him.  I also had some interactions with Scott, who was just as friendly and helpful as Marty.  I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best company I've ever worked with.  Marty even encouraged me to call when the roof is nearing 15 years so they could check the roof before the warranty expires.  I'm sure they'll still be in business because they are a well-established company in Kansas City and they're fabulous.

They have been one of the best bids that I have had. They were very friendly and cleaned up after themselves. They were here the day they said they would be here. They always had someone available that I could talk to with any questions that I had.

It was an Angie's list Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. I used it against the total roofing bill. It was a deal for $499 where you got $1,000 off the bill so it was a $500 savings. It worked well. They did a good job on the roof. They did quality work and their pricing was competitive. They got the work done quickly and they were able to schedule it quickly. I would use them again.

This company was very prompt, proffessional, and the price was very competitive!

Overall I am satisfied with our new roof and gutters, but you have to watch to make sure no corners are cut.  I had to call them back to install missing felt, drip edge, gutter guard and gutter straps.  They also did not initially replace some of the existing roll roofing material in an area not visible from the ground.  Century Roofing completed the work, but it should have been done right the first time.

They're an excellent company to deal with and they did a beautiful job. We had one leak a month later and they came right out, addressed it, and took care of it. We were satisfied and that was fine. It's a big roof and things happen, but they were polite and careful on our property. They were kind of everything that you would want them to be. They're good. I recommended them to quite a few of our neighbors. They weren't the cheapest and they weren't the most expensive, but it was obviously good or we wouldn't have gone with it. We felt the price was fair. Everything was the way it should be and they were pleasant to deal with.

Century told me I had CertainTeed brand shingles, I do not, as I later found out from CertainTeed.  Century gave me bad information and performed an unnecessary service

They came and did the bid and said they would complete the work within 3 weeks.  3 weeks came and went without a call.  We understand we have had a rainy spring, but a courtesy call is appreciated.  The work completed was good....we no longer have a leak.  However, some of sealant they used dripped along side of the house and it appears they didn't make any attempts to clean it up.  Since we just had our house painted last house, it was a little frustrating.  

I called Century and advised them my roof was leaking and I wanted them to come and fix the leaks. The  woman answering the phone looked up my file and advised me I had a five year warranty. I stated it was my understanding the roof was supposed to be a 40 year product. She stated I was correct but that her company only provides a five year warranty. I stated I understood, but I still need them to fix what was leaking. I advised I would pay any current charges. She stated she would schedule a service call within the following two weeks. I responded that I was relying on them since the leaks were ruining my ceiling. I waited three or four weeks and did not here from anyone from Century Roofing. I called her back and advised I was still waiting for roof repair. She again advised me she would have a representative call me within a week. I got a strong impression I was not going to be contacted. Sure enough, I never heard from them again. Eventually, I hired a young man who was just starting a roofing business to examine my roofing problem. He climbed up on the roof and dicovered the problem in about ten minutes. He stated Century had used the wrong sized seals on my exhaust vents and the caulking had deteriated around them. He repaired the problem and I have had no problems since.
I thought Century's attitude about fixing a roof they installed to be exremely unprofessional and would never use them again.

Workers were very courteous and friendly.  They worked three long days into the evening but also cleaned up before they left.  They cleaned up patio, driveway and all green spaces when they left.  Skylights are a big improvement.  We would recommend to anyone.

Marty and Century Roofing did an excellent job from start to finish. I would highly recommend Century Roofing to my friends and family.

Curtis, from Century roofing, came to review my problem and attempted a caulking fix (at no charge) just to see if that would correct the problem.  He explained the next step in case that did not work (which it didn't).  He came back and gave me an estimate for tearing out the roof valley which was the area of concern, and stated the time frame in which he could return to start work.  He returned 2 weeks earlier than planned, for which I was very thankful.  After tearing off the shingles in the area, he explained that the previous roofing company had failed to use a sealing membrane which should have been applied to my low pitch planked (not sheeted) roof.  He spent approx 5 hours sheeting a wide section on both sides of the valley and reshingling the area.  I have experienced no further leaking, despite several hard rains.  I was given a 1 year guarantee on his work and was assured that if further work was needed, he would take care of it.  Curtis was obvoiusly quite knowledgeable and he made sure I understood the problem and the remedy.  I would recommend Century and would certainly use them myself in the future.

Roofing was deliverd th. Crew came about 7am was ftneshed at6pm did a great clean up.

They showed up on time. They didn't try and sell us anymore than what we wanted done to the house. They didn't try and push us to get a more expensive roof than what we needed. We got a little bit better than the mid grade but not the most expensive and they didn't try to push that on us. All of their men that were working on the roof were all very polite. Every time we went out or let our dogs out to go to the bathroom they would stop working so they weren't throwing anything down that might hit them in the head or anything. I thought it was a real nice company to do business with. We had to follow up with them to get some eave vents put in after the fact and they were very prompt. It was in the dead of winter and we had ice storms and the woman was going to send her people out and I said, no please wait until the ice is melted it is not that big of a deal, but they were certainly trying to get the work done as quickly as possible.  Their service representatives are very, very helpful and very responsive. We had gotten bids from other companies and they were right in line with the others.

I contacted four companies to get an estimate for a new roof for my rental property because my insurance company said  the roof needed to be replaced. James Hinrichs from Century Roofing not only gave me the best price, but his estimate included extras. I had a $300.00 coupon from Angie's List and the discount was applied after the work was done.  The crew did an excellent job and the work was completed sooner than I expected. All trash created by the removal and installation of the new roof was cleaned up and hauled away. James was great to work with and he even took pictures and e-mailed information to my insurance company. I highly recommend this company and I will use them again.
