Well, when I left for work, the backhoe was digging the trench, and when I came home at noon the job was done. WE THOUGHT!
After cleaning up in the basement and replacing all the shelving, the next day we had the sewer overflow into our basement(had never happened before). When I called Burnaps, I was told that they replaced the sewer line up to 5 feet of the house and stopped because the airconditioner would have had to be moved and they didn't include that cost into the original bid. So, the old sewer line that we thought had been replaced was still there. (had they called either me or my husband, we would gladly have had the airconditioner moved). So we paid to have the airconditioner moved and they called the backhoe back in to do the job again. Then, believe it or not, they wanted us to pay again for the backhoe! The job was finished and I again cleaned the basement of the sewer residue, much worse than the original clean-up.
The young man who did the work, the son of the plumber, was very nice, but kept saying, "I'm sorry", and "Its been a learning experience". His father, the plumber(I think) came over twice, once to give him advice(about 15 minutes), and the second time at our request to talk about the cost of the 2nd backhoe charge. (another 15 minutes).
We finally insisted on talking to them about the bill, we had to have the deck rebuilt, a cost we had not planned on. Plus, all the dishonesty in not telling us about the work being partially done, evident when we had the sewer overflow. They finally agreed for about half of what we had ask for. It was not acceptable to us but we were so sick of the drama from this 3 month project that we agreed and paid in full just to get it over with.
