Medium-toned colors and patterned carpets can work well in these parts of your home because dirt and stains can blend in easily. Carpet typically lasts 5-15 years, depending on material quality and traffic levels. Regular maintenance, such as professional cleaning, can extend carpet longevity and preserve appearance.

You can lay carpet by yourself, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should. DIY carpet installation can save you on labor costs, but you’ll have to pay more to get the right tools and equipment first. A knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller are a few pieces of equipment you’ll need that you may not already have lying around. And keep in mind that repairing or replacing carpet later because of a bad installation is twice as expensive as paying a pro to handle it in the first place.
