⚠️ PLEASE READ – DO NOT HIRE JEFF GRIFFIN, SIGNATURE STAIR ⚠️ I’m not posting this to stir up drama, but I do feel a responsibility to warn others in our community. If you are considering hiring Jeffrey K. Griffin, Signature Stair, Griffin Quality Construction, or Staircase Makeovers (these are just the business names we’re aware of - there could be more), please do not even consider it. We paid him thousands of dollars for work that was never started. After weeks of delays, broken promises, outrageous excuses, being ghosted, and ultimately blocked from his personal and business social media accounts after requesting a refund - we learned we were far from the only ones. Jeff was referred to us by a neighbor, and we trusted that recommendation. We did some basic research on him and his company, Signature Stair, and on the surface, everything seemed legitimate - even thriving. Unfortunately, we didn’t dig as deeply into his background as we should have. Unbeknownst to us, Jeff Griffin is officially listed on Johnson County’s “Prohibited and Restricted Businesses” list and is PERMANENTLY enjoined from operating anykind of business in Johnson County due to deceptive practices (see link below). 📌 Case Number: 24CV711�📌 Listed as: Jeffrey K. Griffin Quality Construction d/b/a Staircase Makeovers [[*** Link removed ***] We’ve taken action and filed a police report with the Shawnee Police Department and filed a complaint with the Johnson County District Attorney’s office. And yet - even as of this morning - he is still actively attempting to schedule appointments, offering to give bids, and potentially taking deposits from unsuspecting clients. I’m sharing this in the hope that it spares even one person from going through what we did. DO NOT hire, refer, or pay him. Protect your clients, your colleagues, and your friends.

If you want him to take your money and run you’ve come to the right place. He will gain your trust and your deposit, make you wait, lie about why he can’t come do the job and then run. He personally admitted this to me, promising to repay but never did. I’m currently suing him. Apparently he’s done this to countless others. Also pursuing action with the Attorney Generals for both Kansas and Missouri to make sure he never does business again. Time to make sure this guy doesn’t keep ripping people off. He is a thief. Don’t be fooled. Run away. Quickly.

Beware- happy to come out promptly to provide a bid and put his hand out for a deposit. Unable to provide an exact start date. Month after month promises your project is starting soon. 7 months later no project and no refund

After reading all of the reviews we hired jeff to replace our railings and spindles. We left a deposit in July and he said it would most likely be November before he could work on our project. When November arrived I attempted to contact Jeff via email, phone, and Facebook messenger over about ten days. No response even though I could see he had seen my messages. I finally asked for my deposit back and of course, that did not happen. I am a reasonable person and if he is busy and needs more time, that is fine we are in no hurry, but it is obvious he never intended to complete our job.

Without telling us he was doing so, he planned to work on our projects only on the weekends or between other jobs. He spent a few days doing work the first weekend and then essentially disappeared. He kept pushing the date he would return to finish further and further out. Meanwhile, we were disappointed in the quality of the work and wanted to discuss it with him, but couldn’t effectively do so without him returning. Eventually, we told him we were going to get someone else to finish the project and asked him to refund part of our deposit in proportion to the unfinished work. He agreed. But it has been months and he has not returned the money. He is now ignoring our calls.
