Tioga Suites Hotel

We booked our "suite" online.  It was labeled "two-room suite with a tub and shower."  We arrived very late at night (11:55 pm) and found that we did not have a tub and shower-but a very small and grimy walk-in shower in a very small and grimy bathroom.  Due to many activities in the area that weekend, we had to take a smoking room.  We accepted that the room would probably smell like smoke (so we went in with an arsenal of air/fabric fresheners) but we did not expect to find a used cigarette balancing precariously on the towel rack in the bathroom.  Because it was so late, and because our sheets appeared to be clean (thank goodness) I just went to bed.  My husband wanted to watch TV but that was not meant to be as there were no batteries in the remote. 
We left early the next morning and when we came back for our second night, found that the room had been "cleaned" but low and behold, the cigarette was STILL balanced on the towel rack.  I took the battery-less remote down to the office.  After waiting five minutes for the staff to finish her cigarette, I requested batteries and let her know that there was a cigarette left in our room, that the shower was filthy, and that the cleanliness was just not acceptable.  She was mildly entertained by the cigarette incident, did not apologize for any of it, but said she'd "make a note" about the room. 
Another negative thing about this hotel is that it is in downtown Chanute.  For some reason, from 7:30 or so in the morning till 10:00 p.m. the city has obscure rock music blaring from speakers from its street lamps.  We had to wake up to the it each morning and had to listen to it in the back ground each night.  It was really awful.  Awful choice of music-and just awful to be awakened on a Sunday morning at 7:40 a.m. to Planet Earth by Duran Duran (and I actually like Duran Duran). 
This was our second stay at the hotel.  The first stay was unremarkable but not dirty.  We reluctantly stayed here again and will not be back a third time.  Old is one thing....dirty is another.
