"The agent that was there to give me an estimate explained what the problem was, how it had occured and what needed to be done to correct the current problem and prevent problems in the future.  Though he spoke to me of potential problems related to this, he never attempted to do more than what was needed to fix the leak.  To repair the leak, sheetrock was cut out above the stairway landing and a section of 2x4 removed.  The actual repairman was prompt and professional.  He explained the process of repairing the leak and, I was warned that they would not replace the dry wall which was ok with me.  There was no more water in the crawl space and I was satisfied with this solution.

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Bleach is generally not recommended for your shower drains. Although diluted bleach can technically help clean your drain, it will not unclog your pipes. In fact, bleach can harm your plumbing system because it’s so powerful. The bleach can change the color of your sink and even corrode metal pipes and fittings.

Often, people reach for bleach because it's already in their house. But it's worth getting a plunger or a drain snake for the job instead. It'll be a lot less money to buy a new plunger than to pay a plumber to repair or replace damaged pipes.

No. You should never pour old paint down a drain or sewer because it can clog pipes and pollute the environment. You must dispose of paint properly and safely. Different types of paint need to be disposed of in different ways—oil-based paints must be taken to a paint recycling center, while you can throw dried-out water- or latex-based paints in the garbage.

It is not advisable to use drain cleaner in a washing machine. Drain cleaners contain harsh chemicals that can damage the internal components of your washer, including rubber seals, hoses, and even the drum. These chemicals can also react with any residual detergent or fabric softener, potentially leading to noxious fumes. If your washing machine is experiencing drainage issues, it's best to address the problem directly by inspecting and cleaning the lint filter, checking for clogs in the drain hose, or seeking professional repair services. Using drain cleaner in a washing machine is a risky solution that can cause more harm than good.

The drain pump will naturally make a standard operational and draining sound several times throughout your dishwasher cycle. If you hear abnormally loud sounds like scraping, grinding, or clicking, you may have food debris or a piece of glass stuck in your drain filter. Avoid dishwasher repair by always scraping food off your dishes and loading the racks correctly.

Yes, flushing a clogged toilet can make it overflow. While flushing the toilet may push enough pressure through the system to dislodge the clog, this is unlikely. Your best bet is to use a plunger and hope the suction can break up whatever is blocking the pipe. If this doesn’t work, use a plumbing auger or call a pro to help.
