I cannot put into words how horrible my experience has been. The "employees" Steve hired trashed my house: leaving their food on my front steps, leaving food wrappers in my front yard, leaving my water on all day causing a pool on the side of my house, LEAVING MY HOUSE UNLOCKED ON 6 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. Concreted over a water line (which he didn't know what it was, I had to tell him), concreted in my waste line, and said he would get all the fixes done by Friday July 1, 2016. But he only had 3 guys over once this week, and didn't tell them about everything that needed to be corrected. I was able to get him to admit that he didn't check up on his employees work appropriately. When I asked him why he hadn't noticed that they covered the water line (among everything else) he said he just hadn't noticed yet. I had to explain to him what a shelf was, because it wasn't done correctly. He called me a liar, said my standards are too high, and that he his tired of dealing with me. He won't answer my phone calls or text messages now. I could have done everything he did, because all he did was call people and hire them to come out. He never never lifted a finger, because he doesn't know how to do anything.
Description of Work: He was SUPPOSED to remove dirt, pour concrete, put in stairs, put in a sump pump, remove insallation.

Tile placement was beautiful, but grout was applied incorrectly, color is very inconsistant. He had his workers sealed the tile which was not suppose to have a sealer. When they tried to remove it, it left a clouding and unremovable water spots on floor. The problem occurred in all three bathrooms. Two different tiles were used, one in master bath and a different tile in each of the other bathrooms. We can not get him to return our calls or emails since July 31st 2013.
Description of Work: Installed tile in 3 bathrooms including master.

The short story is that I think Steve - the owner, while a nice guy, chose his subcontractors very poorly and did not supervise their work. The result was very bad quality. For example, the drywall mudding was TERRIBLE and the resulting paint job looks really bad. Another example is that the 'workers' found a case of beer I had in the basement and drank it. They were kind enough to make it look like they hadn't taken any - buy putting the metal caps back on the bottles to make them look unopened. They also did not install the egress windows to code - they installed them at 48" off the floor instead of 44". Steve's response was "well that must be a new change in the code". So I researched the code myself. Do you know when it was changed to 44"? Try early 2000's (like by 2003 for sure). They also failed to install proper drainage in the window wells of the egress windows. Overall I would advise don't be swayed by Steve being a nice guy (which he is). Don't mistake that for competency. I WOULD NOT recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: The job was to finish my unfinished basement. This included a full bath, 2 bedrooms, a living area, and 2 egress windows.

We hired Steve Bardwell at the end of the summer 2012 to replace our front steps. The only difference we wanted was to add some color to the concrete which we agreed for the additional funds. Our steps were to the point of dangerous because they sloped severely. It was a 2-3 day job to remove the front steps, frame up the new steps and pour concrete for new steps. When the framing was removed the finished job was horrible. There were big holes in the fronts of each step. The top 3-foot step had a 2" drop from back to front. The other steps sloped towards the house (opposite direction than they should). They were just as dangerous as they were prior to the job. The finish work was very unprofessional - edges were not smoothed out and the top finish was extremely rough. I think Steve was there one time at the beginning of the pouring of concrete. Concrete is supposed to dry slowly and they were left uncovered to the summer heat. There was no instruction given to us as to the care of the newly poured concrete. He came by and agreed that they had been done porely and it was agreed that he would replace the steps rather than returning our deposit of half the total cost. We called and emailed off and on all falll, winter and this spring and we hve not been able to talk with him. We even told him that we would work with him if he would just contact us. We've not heard a thing from him. I can't say one good thing about this entire event. We are very frustrated and concerned.
Description of Work: Replaced front concrete steps to our home.
