Auto Body Work
Took him two weeks to fully restore my stolen car. Had to repair the whole car, new carpet, new headliner and new electronics. Car looked great afterwards. And here is the big part: nothing rattled after being fixed. This is huge as everything inside the car was removed to be cleaned or replaced.

Auto Body Work
I have used Cook and Sons for years. This last time was to repair our 2008 Ford Edge after it was stolen and then recovered.
Cook and Sons had to repair both sides of the vehicle and the rear glass. Inside they had to replace the carpet from front to back and also the full headliner. Everything in the car had to be removed to make the repairs and to clean everything back to being new.
This repair only took a week. At any other repair shop, this would have taken close to a month. After the repair we were happy that there was no rattles. Something that could happen when a car is striped clean for repair.

Auto Body Work
My Auto was involved in an accident while it was parked in the street. Someone backed into it causing damage, and I needed to have it fixed. I ended up taking it to local CA Cook and Sons Body shop. First I got a paper estimate before letting the insurance adjuster look at it, and then I got an estimate from the insurance company. By the way, getting the initial estimate from CA cook and son's was very difficult, because apparently the Owner is the only one who performs estimates, and he doesn't report to work until about 11:00 AM on a typical day, so I guess Lunch is the only time you can actually get an estimate. CA Cook and Son's estimated the damage for the accident repair would be ~$980. The Insurance adjuster estimated the damage was ~$1260. I thought maybe I could save a few bucks by taking the insurance estimate and having them do the repairs, but I also wanted a rental car from the insurance company, so the insurance company ended up sending CA cook and son's a copy of their own estimate, and the body shop demanded I surrender the entire insurance check, even though the estimate from the insurance essentially was only different by the cost of labor. I understand that CA Cook and Son's worked "off the insurance estimate" meaning they did exactly what the estimate told them, so that is not really a point of contention between me and the body shop... The first bit of repairs look pretty good. I think they could have done a better job matching the paint (The new paint looks the correct color but a bit darker than the rest of the paint) but most of my friends say they didn't do a bad job considering. The second bit of repairs they were going to do was estimated to be $470, and actually involved re-shaping the existing parts instead of just replacing like the first repair was. On this repair, they charged me exactly what they estimated, but the quality of workmanship was sub-par. The final product is a little wavy, and there is a pretty big defect in either the paint or the underlying body work. I am not impressed at all. There is also a light scratch all the way across the fender, and a "chip" in the new paint that might not be a chip, but a captured foreign object within the paint. I'm very under-impressed. To top it off, they busted a latching mechanism off my gas-flap door that I didn't notice until a week after the repairs were done. When I brought up that the latch was broken, they told me they would order the parts, but I haven't heard anything in a week about whether they had come in or not. Also, a problem I had with BOTH repairs is that while doing the work they disconnected my car battery, which caused the OEM sterio in my car to engage the anti-theft lock, to which I did not have an unlock code. I brought this to their attention immediately, and after waiting 45 minutes (until 6:00 PM on a Friday) for them to try to fix it, they ended up not fixing it and told me I would have to wait till Monday for them to get the unlock code, and suggested I just listen to my iPod over the weekend. (I do not own an iPod). Not only did my radio not work, but I have ongoing problem's with my car's on board computer. Overall I am very dissatisfied, and I would not recommend you take your car to CA Cook and Son's in Augusta for any service they might provide.
