They removed a huge tree (almost 7 ft circumference) that was starting to dye out and was hollow at the base and in part of the top. They also removed a smaller tree and trimmed up two trees in the front yard. The huge tree was located in a very small backyard with only a narrow driveway between two houses. They used a crane and lifted the branches/trunk over the house and into the front to be shredded and cut up - which was very tricky due to power lines and other houses in close proximity. They coordinated with the neighbor to take down part of his fence and reinstall it to accommodate the crane. My neighbor was very happy with the work they did to put his fence back up. Overall, they did a great job and everything was removed from the property that day. They did have to come back to remove the stump but, did so promptly.

I had driven by another job site a couple of times and saw the name. I called and left a message which was returned within 3 hours. I explained that my tree was deteriorating and that I was looking for bids for the next week and a half. He arranged to leave his site to come take a look and realized the importance of removal sooner than what I was looking for. He offered to have a crew come over same evening to remove the critical portion of the tree with the rest to be completed the following day (today). I generally don't accept a bid spontaneously but I had received another bid which was comparable. Because Calvin was available immediately, I accepted the bid. The critical work was not done that evening and Calvin was kind enough to notify. The entire job was completed the following morning. The crew was timely and very efficient. Calvin also looked around at other possible needs and examined them and discussed with me. He seemed very knowledgable as did the staff. This was a tricky removal as the tree was around power, telephone, and cable lines. All are intact.
I am quite satisfied with the work and the cost and would definitely call them back.

We used A-Alpha a couple of years ago to trim our three ash trees and were very pleased with the service. I called the morning of May 7th and spoke with Calvin about an estimate to trim the ash trees and three additional ornamental trees. He was able to give us an estimate and arranged to have his crew complete the work the following day. As before, the service was great.

The price was great compared to others and the quality of the work was great, however a pile of mulch over a foot high was left in my backyard. I called the owner to discuss having this removed as the contract stated that all wood and brush would be cleaned up and removed. He stated that this did not include mulch and that he would charge more to come clean it up. When I tried to negotiate with him since I did not consider the job to be done, he threatened to take me to small claims court. Until that conversation, I had been very impressed with the company, however the unprofessionalism and threatening nature of the conversation ensured that I would never recommend him to anyone else.
Response from A-Alpha Tree Company
"Customer was given a written contract, specifically and meticulously written in order to prevent any misconstruencies. The customer contacted me, and inquired about the pile of mulch in her backyard. I immediately reminded her that when we did a walk thru, I explained she would have a large pile of mulch left after grinding the stump. She then insisted that I come and pick it up. I then reminded her that it wasnt included in the contract, but would be happy to pick it all up for a small fee, and do it immediately. She then insisted I do it for free again. I told her if it was that serious, I would do it, and come out immediately. I dont want you back at my house was her reply. She then stated she was going to short me 50$ and I had no choice in the matter. I then explained that not only did I trim 4 of her trees for free, I also grinded her stump for free. I explained my disapproval of her insisting an additional discount of 50$, then explained that even though im a Christian based business, I periodically experience customers who have signed contracts but refuse to pay. I informed her that I currently have 2 lawyers for just such occasions and would follow through with a suit if she refused to pay. I then explained that I wasnt going to argue with her then hung up the phone. I must admit that she suprised me with payment in full within the next few days. I would like to say that im sorry things ended the way they did, but I commend you for doing the right thing Godbless you!"

The price looks high because it had to be done mostly without big equipment in our backyard overhanging our roof, deck, detached garage and power lines. Fast, friendly and significantly less than another estimate we received. Cleaned up the yard really nicely when they were done.

We decided to just trim and get rid of as much ivy as possible on a Cottonwood Tree that I had by my front deck. After Calin started to trim all the ivy that had attached itself to my tree, he showed me that it looked like the tree may be dead and it looked like the ivy was holding the tree together. He knew that finances were tight and I was unable to afford to have the very old tree taken down. He finished trimming as much of the ivy as he could and then refused to take any money for what he had done. He didn't need to do that since I was willing to pay him for the time he had spent doing the trimming. He is very knowledgeable and honest and I would recommend him to anyone.

"This woman started to cry when she learned of her dilemma. I told her not to pay me and felt bad about her situation. I hope she has rectified her tree issues. If not she knows ill come runnin in a heartbeat. Thanks."
