Other than that the only other issue I typically have with contractors is clean up at the end of day. I would need to make sure I vacuumed the garage (they used it to work) to make sure their were no nails and general sawdust etc....also the inside could have been cleaned up better daily as well.
The guys were always professional, courteious and easy to work with. I was impressed at the relationship they all had with Walt and appeared to work with him as a crew for many years. Pretty unusual from my experience.
While it wasn't a huge project it took close to 7 weeks but didn't feel like it. I am very happy with my new walk-in closet and the feel of the landing with the new lighting and alcove where the old closet was.
I would say it was one of the best construction projects I have experienced! I gave him two referrals as a result, which I have never done with a contractor.
They designed and built a large master bedroom and bath and walk in closet for us. Also built a garage addition / workshop which involved wall removal and structural rebuilding.
They also added a large deck to back of home and subcontracted landscaping and exterior wall building.
Walt and office staff and specialists (electricians, plumbers, wood flooring installers, concrete workers, carpenters, dry wallers) all are just excellent workers. That is a tribute to Walt Maxson desire to do work that will bring clients back again and again!
You will not find a better remodeling contractor!//
Extremely knowledgeable company concerning engineering and architecture especially as they concern structure integrity. I contacted the top 5 contractors per Angie's List. Mr. Maxwell was the first to respond and the first to quote. He was extremely thorough in his evaluation of the structure and the new loads it would take on with a 48 x 48 skylight with built in blinds and a structured tunnel that was about 8 feet high and had an opening of 80 x 48. After building several custom built and complicated homes I was so surprised to his knowledge level and time of his inspection, especially since it involved spending so much time in a 120F attic and then crawling through the crawlspace. His start date came within one day of his estimate and the job was competed one day early. There was one problem where the boards were placed to protect the granite and stove top must have shifted and because a small crack in the ceramic cooktop. A new $1000 cook top was delivered within 2 days, very impressive ? I expected to have the stove top sent out to be repaired which was something we would not have like but the company did not even ask to this. Their price was very competitive and probably low considering all the extra bracing that was put into the structure. The remaining kitchen remodel with new drywall and removal of dry paper went as planned. Very good communication with all questions answered promptly. I hope to use them again next year in a 3000 sq ft addition.
