I was a little confused about the location of this particular service provider.  The Angie's List page still lists them as being in Zionsville, but the Village Clock Shop, as they are known according to their web site, is now located on Clay Terrace Blvd. in Carmel.  This is the location I used.

After searching for clock repair on Angie's List, I looked at the Village Clock shop web site, and saw they had a service form to fill out.  I explained the problem with my clock, that it was a quartz movement, battery operated clock that had stopped advancing the time after the time change.  They were very prompt in getting back to me by email, explaining that this sometimes happens, no one really knows why, but the only fix would be to replace the movement.  The cost would be $115.

When I took the clock in, they said it would be a few weeks.  They had to order the new movement from Howard Miller, and after it was installed, they would keep the clock for about a week, to make sure it was running OK.  After two weeks, they called, I picked up the clock, and it seems to be running fine so far.  I'm sure this was an easy fix (quartz movement vs. gears!), but I am pleased with my experience with them.

The clock was put together but no effort was made to evaluate whether the clock was worth restoring to working condition. I got the impression that they didn't want to bother. Need to find a repair service that like to tinker with minor repairs.

When the movers arrived, they told us that the clock was not really ready to go.  The chains were still hanging down inside the clock, and if they were left that way they could damage the glass on the front and sides of the clock.  The movers wanted to wrap the chains, but unbeknownst to us, Andy had locked the cabinet and removed the key.  We had to open the packages for the weights and pendulum to find the key.  This did not contribute to a stress-free move!

.We purchased a stand up grandfather clock from them 10 years ago. When I called them, they were not very timely in coming out. I had to call them four times but otherwise the guy who came out was very thorough. In fact it is keeping time correctly and we have not had any problems after that.

I called the Village Clock Shop and set up an appointment for someone to come and see why the clock stopped working. Two days later the repairman arrived at the scheduled time. He disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and tuned the floor clock. He was very professional, courteous and informatine about clock maintenance. The clock was 4-1/2 years old and had never been cleaned. I plan to use them again for periodic clock maintenance..

First, I was of the assumption the clock could be repaired at my home and was quoted a $65.00 service call fee. Second, after the mechanism was taken to the shop I was never given an estimate or cost until the work was done. Third, when they returned to re-install the repaired part, they charged me a second $65.00 service call which I didn't expect and wasn't told about. Fourth, the technician asked to use the rest room while here. This is really a pet peeve of mine as they pass 4-5 gas stations within a mile of our sub division so I don't expect repairmen to use my facilities. They should arrive ready to work, not ready to use the rest room! Fifth,I was unhappy with the final cost as the repairt equaled almost 50% of what the cost of the clock when new.

I was very satisfied with the work of the man he referred me to. The clock is back to chiming, and the moon phase is working again, something a previous repairman had told me was impossible to fix.

When I picked up the clock, it was working like clockwork!! We are enjoying the chiming around the clock, and all is well. Their estimate was right on. It actually cost us about $5 less than their quote.

David was helpful with suggestions. He quoted prices, prior to appointment, so I didn't have any financial woes! He suggested the cleaning with set up to avoid 2 service call charges. We first spoke in May and he offered to call me in June to set up an appointment and he remembered.

I TOOK MY TREASURED CUCKOO CLOCK IN TO BE CLEANED AND WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF $95. I HESITATED TO SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY, BUT DECIDED TO DO SO. WHEN I PICKED IT UP, THE INSIDE WORDS HAS BEEN REPLACED (AND WITHOUT MY PERMISSION) AND MY BLACK CHAIN HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH GOD - WHICH I HATE. I WOULD RATHER HAVE HAD THE OLD WORKS (EVEN UNCLEANED) AND WOULD HAVE USED THE CLOCK AS DECORATION. I WAS CHARGED $130. I RESENT THE CHANGED AND I RESENT THE PRICE.
