ALTUM'S HORTICULTURAL CENTER & LANDSCAPING

Customer Service is unheard of with Altums. They boast beautiful flowers with top notch quality. You pay for that in spades, but when the flowers are diseased Altums' doesn't stand by their product or their high prices. You can't even get anyone to email you back or call you back. We live in Michigan and purchased over $350 in annuals including white and pink impatiens flats for our son and his wife for Mother's Day. The white were beautiful and the pink were diseased and by the middle of August all the pink were just bare naked stems with little to no flowers left. They were mixed in with the white so they all had the same amount of fertilizer, water, etc. I sent pictures to Altums twice by email....only requesting compensation for the pink impatiens....NO RESPONSE. My daughter-in-law, who they were purchased for as a Mother's Day gift, called twice and was promised a call back by a manager....NO RESPONSE. If you are going to charge your customers premium prices for what you consider premium flowers than stand by your advertising and reputation with some decent customer service and just respond!! I will not use Altums again for Mother's Day or any other landscape project. My son and daughter-in-law were extremely disappointed and I was embarrassed that I chose this place as their provider for a rather expensive Mother's Day gift!!

They are very service oriented to me and I am very happy with them so far. Also, if you have them put in plants, you have two year warranty on the plants vs a one year which most places have. I plan on using them again in the spring.

The price for the yew was $88 (I had a 10% discount card) each compared to $75 at Rosie's for the exact same plant from the same supplier.  But I had not done the research on price and that was my problem. My complaint is the lies about the need for soil amendments that the salesman told me.  Thirty year old research has clearly demonstrated that adding soil amendments to a planting hole inhibits the roots from growing out into the adjoining soil area--with sad results for the eventual health of the plant.  Amendments must be added to the entire planting bed if they are to be used at  all,  This is pretty common knowledge among horticulturalists at this point, and it is unprofessional to prey on a shopper's ignorance of the research in an attempt to sell products.

They are SO helpful in assisting us in choosing the right plant for what we want and our soil & conditions. Their "forest fines" mulch is absolutely the best mulch as it breaks down into our clay soli, so over the years we are getting a great look and improved soil. Wehn they delivered and spread the mulch, they were prompt, and very neat. It looked  excellent!
We have visited a  lot of nurseries over the years and find Altum's the best as far as customer service and quality.

You take pictures around your house where you want to fill in with trees or shrubs. They have computerized software and they will digitally insert trees and shrubs so you can see what it would look like before you buy anything. They quote it and tell you how much it’s going to cost. I really like it!

I've a Christmas story to warm hearts, and an example of customer service over and beyond what others deliver.
Each year my family makes it an outing to go to Altum's and purchase our Christmas.  We always get a Frasier fir that is in excess of 10' feet, and we have never failed to be happy with our purchase.  After our tree was delivered this year, however, it appeared that this year's tree may be a bit troublesome.
The tree was delivered, given a fresh-cut and set-up by Altum's.  I put hot water on the tree and decided to give it 24-hours to fall out before putting the lights on the tree.  The next day I noticed that the tree had taken up no water.  I contacted Altum's and they came out and put another fresh cut on the tree.  I thought that would be it.
Even after this fresh cut, the tree was taking up NO water, and some of the needles were in the early stages of drying out.  I contacted Altum's via email, not in hopes of gaining anything from them, but rather wanting them to know about the problem in case they had a supplier issue this year.
Altum's surprised me by calling me, apologizing and stating they would deliver a new tree, and take away the old tree.  I am happy to report that over 1.5 weeks later and the new tree delivered is still absolutely beautiful!  Our tree is still taking up quite a bit of water each day, and the needles are not showing the least bit of dryness - they are quite supple, in fact!
Exceptional customer service from a local business!

Kathy came out Sept. 21, 2012.  We went over our landscaping and all of the changes I wanted to make.  I told Kathy the work needed to be completed by November. She told me that would not be a problem.  Not hearing anything from Kathy and after leaving voicemails and emails.....no response.  I finally talked to her by phone when I called the store one day and she assured me I would receive "something" via email the next day and that I was definetely on the calendar before Nov. 1st.  The next day nothing came via email.  It has now been over a week since talking with her and still nothing.  I even went to the store and talked with one of the sales people and she said she would relay this info. to the manager.....still nothing.  It is now Oct. 27th and they will not have time to do any of the fall plantings that I wanted to do.  I haven't even received a plan or a quote...all I have received out of this is limited lip service and a waste of my time.  Now it is too late.  If you are too busy, be honest and just say that you can't get the work done in the allotted time.  I found them to be very unprofessional in not returning voicemails or emails.  I always liked going to Altums....the workers there have been very helpful and nice.  I am so disappointed.  There are plenty of other good nurseries to go to.

We have been very pleased with them.  We really liked working with their designer who was more than willing to treat plants for us.  We liked the quality of the product that they put in.  We have always heard people say they are pricey, but we felt it was worth it.  We will use them again in the future.

They honored what they said.  As soon as spring came, I was placed on a list to replant everything that was dead. They honored their wrranty

They are a huge company and they are very good. We've used them for a long time and my neighbors started using them because of me. I just think that everything they do, the workmanship and the designing is very good. We think that their prices are very fair and so does our neighbors.

We have had great service from them and they back their product. They are very nice to deal with! They are very responsive.

Fabulous, best customer service I have ever experienced

They were fine. I picked up the tree from them and they planted it for me. I think at least 50% of the cost was for the tree. I think they were costly, but they had what I wanted. I will use them again in the future.

The plants were very nice and the finished appearance very good. I had trouble knowing what cost what. Bills were very difficult to understand. It was very expensive and I didn't trust what I would or would not get. I've changed to another person for the care of the landscaping.

Very pleased overall. After they were done, it was difficult to determine if we had ever had a pool. Very happy with their work!

They were very good about replacing the shrubs and I visit their shop also very frequently.

They are reliable and professional. They do a good job with the yard. I will definitely continue using them.

I contacted Amanda Thieman at Altum's Landscaping back in March to discuss the possibility of helping us come up with a landscaping plan. The following week she met with me to walk through our yard and approximately a week later she had a complete design for us. I was blown away by her ideas and absolutely loved just about everything she came up with. Unfortunately, since we were also planning to install a complete irrigation system, we couldn't really afford to do it all. Nevertheless, she continued to work with us until we came up with plan for things we could install this year that would fit into our budget. Once we agreed on the plan and submitted payment (we paid in full up front to take advantage of a 15% discount) they moved very quickly to get everything put in. The second day they were working on the landscaping, I was a little surprised to come home and see a ring of boulders laid around our newly planted Colorado Spruce which was not exactly in the plan, but it was immediately addressed the following day after I e-mailed Amanda. Within a week they were completely finished and we couldn't be happier. The yard looks absolutely beautiful and we can't wait to continue the project next year.

They did excellent work and it looks beautiful!

They had us bring in pictures of the areas we wanted to landscape. We actually brought in our camera and they put the memory card on their computer, and gave us ideas on what to plant. Very helpful!

They were kind to direct me to the type I wanted and advised me on planting.

We've never had a failure from any plants we've purchased from them... lots of good product.
