We are extremely happy we utilized Delello & Sons Paving. The entire process from initial contact, all the way to receipt of invoice exceeded our expectations. We contacted Delello & Sons, and spoke with the secretary. Within an hour we received a call, and scheduled an appointment with the estimator. Jim was accommodating to our schedule, and was punctual. Later that day we received our quote. We made a few adjustments, and signed it the next day. The contract suggested a lead time of 3-4 weeks, but they completed it within 2 weeks. Jim communicated the schedule, and the crews showed up like clock work. The employees were professional, took pride in their work, and knew exactly what they were doing. They had no problem working around the busy street we live on. We have a residential driveway, but went with 2" of binder under 1-1/2" finish surface. The quality of work was exceptional. The employees we spoke with had been with the company for many years. They obviously care about each employee, as well as the customer. Seriously couldn't have asked for anything more.

We had a few special circumstances because the top of our driveway is supported by a fairly high, tiered retaining wall that needed to be replaced before the driveway could be done.  At no additional charge, Delello came out a month early to cut out a 10-foot-wide strip of asphalt from the driveway at the top of the wall to allow the wall to be torn out and a new wall installed, with deadmen under what would be the new driveway.  This was extremely helpful to us.  Kyle Delello is professional, responsive, and patient - very good to work with.  Further, to a man, every member of the demolition and paving crews reflected that same professionalism.  They took great care with trees and perennials closely lining the driveway and we had no damage to vegetation at all.  During the demolition and grading day, the crew worked with me to make decisions on grading for water management, and they constructed a special berm in one section of the new drive to handle a tricky stormflow issue in our yard.  The paving itself looks great and we are very happy with the work.
Delello's pricing was competitive with the other bids we got.

Our driveway was at least 60 years old and had numerous cracks.  But mainly a large tree had heaved up one corner of the driveway and the culvert at the foot of the driveway had collapsed.  We had the tree removed prior to this job but a significant part of the tree trunk was still under the pavement.  We looked at three asphalt paving companies listed on Angie's list and felt that Delleo and Sons had the best understanding of how to approach the job.  The other two companies had indicated that they were not sure that they could remove the tree trunk or roots underneath the pavement.  Delello said that they had the equipment to pull the part of the tree trunk that remained under the driveway.  We also wanted a concrete approach to the driveway and Delleo said that they did not do concrete work, but they had worked cooperatively with a concrete company who we were also looking at for that part of the job.
On the day of the job, I went out to get the newspaper and the crew was already here assembling their equipment for the job.  We talked about a couple work details and they went right to work.  Stephen, Nathan, and Grant were the fellows on this crew and they worked quickly to get the pavement removed.  It took two trucks to carry away the old driveway.  We talked about the importance of making sure that any rainwater on the driveway would drain away from the garage.  Stephen already knew this and he showed me how he planned to slope the driveway, but also connect to the sidewalk at the edge of the driveway that was a little higher in elevation.  When it came to removing the tree trunk and roots they used a backhoe to pull out them out.  While he was in the process of this he realized how much larger the hole was going to be and immediately called his office to call for more gravel to fill the hole so that it would not settle or sink below the rest of the driveway.  He and his crew were completely finished with their work and gone by noon.
The next day the paving crew arrived with 6 or 7 workers all to do our medium sized driveway.  I only recall the names of Wayne, Dale, Chuck and Zack, but I feel it important to note that they were all so congenial, and easy to talk with.  They answered all my questions on what they were doing.  They all knew their jobs and their team work was clearly evident.  Their attention to detail was also impressive.  Watching them work, I knew that we had chosen the right company for the job.  In talking with them, I asked several of them how long they had been with Delello and Sons. One person had been with them for 20 years, another 15 years and another 10 years.  It is always impressive when you see that kind of loyalty to an employer.
When they were finished, I was asked several times if we were satisfied with the quality of the work and if there were any other changes or details that required attention.  They were finished by 11 AM.

First they consulted with us for design of the drainage system. They laid a 3 inch base and 1 inch surface. Work completed in 2 1/2 days. Quality of paving was superior! A company with years of experience in perfecting their workmanship. We would hire again and recommend them for their quality and expertise and professionalism in their industry.

The county had purchased a part of our property as part of a new bridge construction.  As part of this effort they are going to replace part, but not all, of our existing gravel driveway with a relocated asphalt driveway.  However, we learned after the construction by the county had started that we would need to hire an independent contractor to convert the remaining existing gravel driveway to asphalt if we wanted that done.  The work needed was to convert the remaining section of gravel driveway between an existing cement slab and where the 'yet to be installed' county provided driveway would end.  After researching options, we selected Delello and Sons.  We worked primarily with Kyle Delello.  He and his company were great.  They coordinated with the county to gain access, and got in before the county started work on their portion of our driveway - thus elimination the potential for damage to the new county provided driveway had it been done later..  In the process, they regraded the area, and installed a drain and outlet pipe to eliminate a water build-up problem that we've had at a corner end of the cement slab.  The work was done over the Oct 9-11 time frame.  Since then we have had several heavy rains, but no more water puddling up like before.  All the workers were very professional, and willingly answered any questions that I had.  We will definitely look to hire this company in the future for any additional work of this nature.

Excellent!  Kyle was punctual, knowledgeable and friendly.  The crew showed up each day by 7:00 and worked until dark.  Every member of their crew was friendly and respectful.  It was a 4 day job, so our boarders had to park at the road and walk to the barn, but they all commented on how accommodating the crew was and didn't seem to mind being inconvenienced.  I would definitely recommend Delello to anyone wanting a quality job.

We had several problems with our aging Asphalt drive, besides just appearance. There were many very large cracks as well as hills and valleys that caused drainage problems.
I used Angie's bid system to get proposals to repair and resurface our old asphalt driveway. Delello had a very good bid for all the work we needed to have completed. Kyle Delello got right back with me and provided a detailed proposal to properly fix our aging driveway. Kyle was our contact for everything from estimate, to scheduling, to quality and follow-up making it very easy for us. He was really helpful in explaining everything to us and holding our hand through the entire process.
They were able to schedule and come right out to do the work. Because they are a large company, they were able to have several pieces of equipment and a small army of people working on the job so it was done very professionally and quickly. They were all very polite and took extra care to prep the site and assure our landscaping and house were protected.
I think what impressed me the most was that after they had completed everything, the job foreman went around the drive to make certain everything was draining properly. He found a very small area that needed to be raised and notified Kyle right away. They would not invoice me until everyone was satisfied everything was perfect. They came back out as soon as the weather broke (rain) and fixed then tested it again. Kyle then followed up to make certain we were completely satisfied.
I will definitely use and recommend them in the future.

They did an excellent job and the driveway looks good. They are very professional, courteous and punctual. They were very attentive to detail and made sure everything was completed right. They also cleaned up their debris after the job was completed. I would recommend them to anyone who was looking for a paving company.

They did a very poor job. They left some mulch and some indentations from one side to the other. They tried to fix that and simply made it worse. They had done excellent work on a similar job a couple of years back. I think that they are a good company. They are professional and have nice equipment and I cannot believe that they did such a poor job on my driveway.
Response from Delello & Sons Asphalt Paving Inc
"While we are disappointed with the way things turned out I would just like to say the following: the member telephoned regarding the driveway after the paving was completed. I returned each phone call. We went to the driveway on 2 separate occasions to try to rectify the cosmetic issues. As a result of not being able to meet the member expectations for the repairs we are going to seal the driveway for them free of charge in the fall of 2012 or the spring of 2013. We provided them with a letter stating that this would take place. I feel that the grades for Responsiveness, Punctuality and Professionalism are a bit harsh. We returned each phone call and tried to make things right. I don't feel that the quality of the driveway deserves an "F" either. There were some cosmetic issues that we tried to correct, resulting in discoloration of the pavement that will eventually fade out. To try to keep a repeat customer pleased we will seal the driveway free of charge."

The only thing that would have increased their service is a better response after I accepted the proposal. I faxed it to them and after not hearing from them for a week, I called to ask if they received my signed proposal. I received a phone call that day and the next day was given a date the following week for the service.

Delello exceeded my expectations. Delello had the experience to do the job right.

I had a classic driveway problem for a 30 year old house. The curb was crumbling in places from cracks freezing and thawing. I called the City of Indianapolis and they refused to make the repairs because they were busy in older neighborhoods. I was hesitant to make a repair that looked like a patch of one area. Delello was willing to replace the damaged sections. After much thinking, I asked Delello to replace all sections directly in front of the driveway in order to make it look like a uniform update of the driveway. Delello did not upsell me. Delello did what I asked. Delello did the job in such a manner that indicated to me that they knew what they were doing. I was very pleased with the curb replacement. Neighbors complimented me on the work that was done.

Delello did such a good job on my curb that I asked them to repave my drive. I had some ideas that I gave to Delello. Delello gave me some recommendations that I accepted. I had confidence in Delello from the way they had previously worked. Delello paid attention to the details that made the repaving a very good job.

I called for an estimate and a company representative promptly scheduled a time for the estimate.  I was provided a detailed list describing what procedures would be used to correct the driveway problems along with an estimate. I mailed the signed estimate to the company and was contacted by phone to schedule a date for the work.  Weather has been a problem so the work had to be rescheduled a few times, but their communication has been excellent.  Delello & Sons removed asphalt from approximately the lower 12 ft. of my drive, asphalt covering the city sidewalk and the approach to the street.  They milled the end of the driveway to correct the slope so that it would meet evenly with the sidewalk, eliminating a hump that rubbed on the bottom of the car when entering or exiting the driveway.  They removed the cracked city sidewalk and the asphalt approach leading to the street.  New asphalt was installed on the lower end of the driveway, new concrete was poured in the city sidewalk area and a new concrete approach was poured leading to the street.  Also, a sunken area at the top of of the asphalt driveway was milled and patched.  The older part of the asphalt driveway was then patched with a hot mix and seal coated with hot seal.  We have had heavy rains since the project was completed and water now drains to the street instead of ponding as before. This has been a very pleasant experience from the beginning to the end.  The office help was always friendly and helpful, the workers were always friendly and neat as were the company reps.  I would certainly recommend this company to a friend and I will definitely call them if I need further work done.
