After 178,000 miles, I needed new wheel bearings for my 2002 Saturn SL2. Took it to Gilliland Motors, who has been doing my service work for over five years. They installed new wheel bearings for both front wheels. The front left replacement bearing failed after about two months. They warrantied the part, but charged me an additional $150 in labor to replace it. I grudgingly paid. A week later, the second replacement bearing also failed. They offered to split the labor cost with me, but it cost me another $75. So... I have $725 invested in a job that would have cost $500. A customer should not be responsible for additional costs incurred by faulty parts (or labor), especially a long-time customer.
UPDATE: In fairness to Gilliland Motors, the problem was due to faulty bearings from their supplier. I've had to take the vehicle in again for the same problem since my review was initially posted. They replaced the bearing (a different brand) at no cost and gave me credit for two free oil changes for my trouble. Although that does not completely eliminate the extra money I spent, it cuts it by more than half and shows their willingness to retain me as a customer. Therefore I'm bumping their review up a notch and will continue to use them for service. Before this issue, the work they have done for me has been problem-free.
Always professional.
