I purchased a geothermal home in January 2010 and soon discovered that contrary to the geothermal hype, our energy bills were very high - $600 - $1000 a month. I contacted the company who installed the system originally and asked them to look at the unit. They responded promptly and replaced a part which cost $600 plus labor. Much to my disappointment, my energy bills remained the same so I called them back. The next time they came they installed a new thermostat. Still no change. In all, they came out to the house four times, each time charging me for seemingly minor things such as changing the filter or switching a switch on the unit. Still no relief with energy bills. The last time they were here, I asked them to order a replacement filter for the unit. I never received the filter and never was notified that it was in but their bill for that call was $300. In frustration I asked around and found CLIMATE CONTROL, a small operation out of Osgood Indiana, where the owner is the same guy that does the service call work. I was impressed by his knowledge and his honesty. Scott identified the problem and fixed it in a matter of an hour or less and charged me $137.00. Scott found that the thermostat wasn't configured properly and our auxiliary heat was running constantly. Our electric bill went from $1000 to $250 in one month. Since then we've had Scott back to change out a water heater and I still don't know how he did it so quickly and reasonably. Exceeded expectations!
