Their company formed where the new pour was to be. After forming, it rained quite a bit, so they were delayed in getting the new drive poured. The soaked ground made the pour more difficult, and caused more damage to the yard and lawn from concrete trucks. The only way this could have been avoided would have been to pour the driveway during the summer when the ground was dry. New window wells were installed, provided by me, installed by Rinkenberger and Huhnke. The window wells could have been installed better, but are acceptable now. Two different pours were made, because of the size of the driveway, and the pours are two different colors. This could have been caused by the concrete supplier, Smith Ready Mix. After the drive was poured and completed, it became obvious that the forming used, in one spot, to make the curve in the driveway was less smooth and symmetrical than it could have been. This was hard to see before the new concrete was actually there. *Update: Less than 2 months after the concrete was poured, cracks began forming. By the time the concrete was 4 months old, there were about 60 ft. of cracks in 3 different locations. These cracks should not have formed within 5 years, much less 2 months! Mr. Rinkenberger says that there is nothing that can be done about them, and his quote was "I didn't do anything different than I've ever done when pouring concrete". The cracks have now separated significantly, and will only continue to get worse, and are very ugly. Rinkenberger and Huhnke took advantage of my wife and I, and did not do quality work. They definitely weren't the cheapest contractor, and I expected to get an excellent job comparable to what we paid. We did NOT! Other concrete experts have looked at the job, and have told me that "it was not a very good pour and was over worked". I've also been told that the preparation work was not done properly, and that the quality of the concrete used was not the best. Expansion joints were not used where they should have been, contributing to the premature cracking.
