NORTHWEST FIREPLACE & CHIMNEY,LLC.

We called them out for a chimney sweep and inspection as well as a dryer vent cleaning. Upon inspecting the fireplace and chimney, we were told that the chimney was clean and did not need serviced. We were advised that the chimney needed a new cap, but the fireplace was too old to get parts for and they would not use aftermarket parts. The fireplace was installed in 1996. They provided us with a quote to replace the fireplace for $18,500 all due to a missing cap! Upon having another contractor inspect the fireplace, we were advised that the fireplace was fine and only needed some minor repairs. We also did some research online and found that the parts that they told us were no longer available, can still be purchased! They charged us $400 to NOT sweep the chimney and give us an outrageous quote, which was not needed! Now, on to the dryer vent... They inspected the dryer vent and advised it could not be cleaned as it was a flexible vent hose and not a solid pipe. They gave us an estimate for another $1200 to put in a solid vent pipe and still charged us $150! They did nothing except give us a quote! Totally unacceptable! We spoke with the owner about these ridiculous charges and he was totally unwilling to work with us on what we were charged. This is a horrible company to deal with and has some very shady businesss practices. Beware! They WILL try to scam you for as much as possible!

They were very professional - left no mess. All items were photographed. The cap was found to be very rusty and bleeding on the siding. We are replacing with a stainless steel cap and expect the new cap to be in two weeks. Everything was photographed and we are very satisfied with the service. The cleaning and checking of the fireplace and chimney was $310.00.

Cap repair turned into a very costly fireplace replacement due to something missed on the estimate

When we booked the appointment they came out, but then the guy said he was going to get back to me and I tried to call him and he didn't return my phone calls, and then eventually I just gave up.  But when he did come out, he came out on time.   When I purchased this home, the inspector couldn't get the fireplace lit so I had to have somebody come to check it out.  So I called them and they said well, to come out to look at it, we'll do a service call and clean the chimney and it's going to be $250.  But what we'll do is, we'll change - like whatever those rocks are in a gas fireplace - we'll change those out, we'll get it going, and I said okay that's fine.  So they come out, and I have two fireplaces that have two separate chimneys, so they doubled what I was going to pay.  They didn't put in new rocks, they didn't do anything there.  And then I was asking the guy for a quote to re-line and make these so they were modernized or whatever because nobody had messed with them for a long time.  He said he'd get back to me on a quote.  The whole reason they were coming out is to show me why this wasn't lighting or how to light it.  So he lit it, he tested it, he leaves.  I realized that he didn't show me how to light it.  So I called the guy, I leave a couple messages - hey, this is George, can you call me back, you know the whole purpose of you coming out here was to show me how to light this.  And he doesn't call me back, he doesn't call me back, two, three calls.  Eventually I get him on the phone, I call him until he gets on the phone, and he's like well I have to see it in order to describe it.  I said okay, well I'm going to be home - I can Skype you, I can show you, like I can stand next to it.  He's like okay.  So in an hour - I'll call you in an hour.   So then I stand there by my fireplace, he doesn't call me, I try to call him, it sends me to voicemail.  I literally tried for two weeks to try to call him, to get him on the phone, I don't receive a call back.  At that point I just gave up on calling him and through YouTube videos, figure out how to do it myself.   So somehow, something that was just as easy as me trying to figure out how to light it, cost me $450, didn't do some of the work that they claimed which is why they were coming out for $250, and in the end I had to figure out how to do what I wanted to do.  And if you told me like, look, I don't feel comfortable showing you how to do it over the phone, like give me some reason instead of just me having to continuously call. 

It went great. They presented us with solutions to unexpected problems that arose and the end result was much better than we expected or hoped for.

I cannot express how excellent it was to work with this company. From their hard work, to professionalism, to cleaning up every day, to keeping the house clean while working, and attention to detail it was one of the best vendors I have ever worked with. Octavio and his team are awesome.

Fantastic service! It's the way all businesses should act. Prompt follow-up to my initial call, and made time the next day (on a Saturday) to come out, and there was no mark up for working on a weekend. The problem turned out to be minor, but while he was here he cleaned out the fireplace, painted the interior of the firebox, cleaned up everything afterwards. Octavio was friendly, personable and professional. Would most definitely recommend to anyone!

WORK WENT SMOOTHLY, EVERY THING WAS COVERED, NO DIRT ANY WHERE. I AM WELL PLEASED WITH THE WORK THESE TWO MEN DID, EXPLAINED ORPERATION AND CARE OF THE UNIT, I LIKE ALL I HAVE TO DO IS FLIP A SWITCH AND I HAVE A NICE FIRE.

Got three estimates. Octavio worked with us and explained everything. Workers were neat and tarped the ground. All debris was cleaned up and hauled away each day. The project took approx. ten days. The work was fabulous. They did a great job. Took pictures of the before and after. So far everything i perfect. Five star company

They took lots of pictures and made sure I understood the repairs needed.
I was told a report containing all the pictures and an estimate of repair or replacement would be emailed to me within a week or two.
The problem was this contractor then simply disappeared, never sent the report, and has made no attempt to contact me despite my efforts to contact him. His domain is dormant, his email address bounced, and he doesn't reply to facebook messages.
Basically I feel like I paid $250 for a short conversation with a chimney sweep.
I do not recommend and will never use this contractor again. Which is too bad as his work was good- just not responsible enough for me to ever hire again.
