This is the second time I have used this contractor. The plusses are that he seems to know what he's doing and he responds quickly and is punctual, but I consider him unprofessional. Both times, he was pretty nosy and asking a lot of questions I didn't feel were any of his business and didn't have anything to do with the job at hand. He also seemed to be a bit full of himself--kin of a "know it all" type. He made me feel uncomfortable, and I won't use him again because of it.

Dean came out a few hours after our water stopped running in the late afternoon of day 1 and checked the breaker box and all of the various places around the pressure pump and the wiring on the outside well and determined that the appropriate amount of juice was going to where it should have. The only reason therefore that we were not getting water had to the be the well pump. He offered to do the job himself, said he knew how. We went to Menards together the next morning, day 2,  to buy the pump and some electrical lines, and a few other items which I paid for. He replaced the wire from new pump to well head, installed a new pump, and the water was back on in just a few hours. Dean's business has a 24-hour emergency service and if you've ever been without water, you know this qualifies as an emergency and we were glad that he came out one late afternoon to diagnose the problem and came out the next morning at 7am to get us a new well pump installed. I assisted him a little bit here and there. The price was about the same that that a well company would have charged but given that it was an emergency, I think that it was worth it. I didn't have the time to wait in line behind a lot of other customers if I had called a well company. Dean seems to be a jack of all trades and told me he also has some carpentry background as well as being an electrician, and he sure knows how to replace a well pump and did a good job!
