The problem is they replaced the pump with a Myers SSM331 and told my wife it was the best. Frankly its NOT a grinder pump and NOT suited for a septic system with solids where it is in frequent use. This is also a 200$ pump and therefore the install should have been more like 350$ or 400$ when you push it.
Feel ripped off because I was not there and would have pushed back but not acceptable for them to do this.
Most home owners who are on a septic system are aware of the cost and complexity involved with replacing the septic tank and that regular pumping is definitely required. I would definitely use Midwest Excavating again!
He suggested I consider installation of a and quot;riserand quot; to make the job easier (and cheaper) in the future. His price ($80) seemed reasonable, especially considering he would have to include a round trip back to his shop. Installation of the riser was again quick and efficient. The clean up was first rate. He even filled in a hole our plumber dug and forgot to fill a week earlier.
Scott and his wife are in the business together, a business that Scott's grandfather started. Scott has worked in the business since he was 12 years old. They are a remarkable couple, proud of their business's history and anxious to build good will with every customer they serve for the repeat business they hope for over the next 50 years. They like their business and take pride in it. This attitude is awfully hard to find these days.
Got a septic tank problem? Call Scott. I recommend him without reservation.
Scott came out with his wife and pumped our tank. He did an excellent job. They explained everything to me about what they were doing and why. If they are running behind, you will get a call from his wife with updates. Our house is over 30 yrs old and they told me how they could tell from pumping about the health of our septic field (they look for effluent spilling back into the tank from the outlet line).
If you need your septic tank pumped, call Midwest Excavating.
