Contract Jerry to do tile in kitchen and bathroom floors, paint walls in both rooms, paint kitchen cabinets, remove and install counter tops in kitchen, remove vanity in bathroom, re-install new vanity, remove medicine cabinet and light in bathroom and reinstall mirror over vanity and install new light, repair ceiling in bathroom, remove old wall heater in bathroom and patch hole where it was, install new storm door in kitchen. Jerry was referred to me by a friend and I had been to see his work. It looked to be good. He asked for part of the money up front and I had to get most of the materials. He did however, meet with me to pick up the majority of the items which was a great help. In doing the work, he did a great job with the tilework! He had someone in his family paint and the paint job was not very good. The organization of the project was not to my satisfaction since he did not get the painting completed before installing countertops, vanity mirror, vanity lighting and didn't even get the dryall repair done before painting which left some painting to have to be redone. He didn't start work each day until 10 or 11 and was gone most days by around 3. He originally made completion date of 5 days and the project ended up taking 2 weeks. I will give him credit for one extra day to deal with a plumbing issue he repaired that he had not planned on. He then made a promise to come back and "clean up" some painting issues where there was paint marks in areas there should not have been, and one corner of a consipicuous wall had the paint completely cleaned off of it showing white walls under it. He has never shown up to do this. I have since noticed that the area above my kitchen cabinets is not the same color as the rest of the kitchen walls. So, if I was to hire Jerry again for some work, I would want to hire him for only the things he prefers doing. I would NOT want someone else coming in to do painting of any kind. I would also want to pin him down on completion date. He does do good work on the things he does but it is everything else associated with it that creates a problem.
