Heating and Air Conditioning Service

The installation seemed ok with the exception that the flu pipe was quite crooked but seemed to have the proper fall etc.   Within a few days, I was called and asked to supply them with the receipt to show that I had paid.  I am not in the habit of sending receipts per phone calls.  I was called again a few days later, both times at work, and was told that I needed to send the receipts due to internal problems, then I was told that they had filed a subpoena.  A few days later I noticed that the flu pipe had a piece cut out, to accommodate the drain pipe from the a-coil, that left a gap of about 3 inches.  This gap would have allowed exhaust gases (CO) to be pulled right into the furnace and pumped into the house.  I would consider this a life and death situation.  I don't believe any professional in this industry would have walked out of the house leaving that situation.  At one time, I was a sales rep for an HVAC company, so I have an idea of how things should be.  I contacted who I thought was one of the owners, he looked at it and apologized, and said he would fix it.  Never happened.  One day, just before the first cold snap, as I was doing my laundry, I bumped the flu pipe and one of the adjustable elbows came apart.  Apparently there was so much pressure on it from being installed by the hack that did it, it came apart with the bump.  This happened on a Sunday.  I called the number I have shown for this company and left a message telling them what had happened and that I expected them to come and fix it the next day after 5 o'clock.  I know, I was probably asking them to come after their normal business hours, but I think they owed me that.  Well, they left me a message saying that since I didn't send the receipts, they had no proof that I paid, so they were not going to fix it.  So I guess as far as this company is concerned, my life is worth nothing to them.
So now I am left with a system that may or may not have been installed correctly (would you trust their work?), a company that won't stand behind their work, (but would I trust their work?) and I have had to miss work to show up in court (where, by the way, I was called a liar by who I think is the mother of the one who now says he is the owner).
I doubt this company will ever do business again under this name, but if they do, use them at your peril.
