Schalburg Heating and Cooling is unethical and lacks character.
We will never do business with them again.
We paid them in full through our general contractor (we are currently in dispute with him as well.) I need a bill of sale and installation to submit for 30% tax credit for 2014 taxes. After six phone calls and an e-mail I went to the office. John, the owner, met me and said he gave the receipt to the contractor and the contractor told him not to provide me with a copy. I informed him that we paid him through the contractor and needed the receipt. He refused to give it up saying the contractor told him not to or he would not hire Schalburgs for future work. I asked John if I was understanding him correctly, that as a matter of integrity he was screwing me because he didn't want to lose future business from an unethical contractor? He said yes. I asked him again if he realized what he was doing in denying me the receipt. He said yes. He added, "I won't cut off a finger to spite my arm." He told me I'd have to get the receipt from the contractor. If he were an ethical business owner, he would have informed the contractor he was wrong and provided me with my receipt. Instead he placed his greed before his customer.
Avoid Schalburg's at all cost. We spent nearly $40,000 with them. I was basically told my business with him is not important.
John Schalburg is unethical, greedy, and clearly places his financial interests in front of consumers. Do not trust him. There are plenty of reputable HVAC groups in town that we will be meeting with.
"Schalburg Heating & Cooling Inc was hired by the general contractor to install the geothermal system in [Member name removed] new house. It is our understanding that [Member name removed] is in dispute with his general contractor for other reasons. [Member name removed] said himself that he is happy with our work and with his system. We as a subcontractor was hired and paid in full by the general contractor - therefore any receipts of payment need to come from the general contractor. The situation between [Member name removed] and the general contractor does not include Schalburg Heating & Cooling Inc. It is unfortunate that he feels this way toward our company. We stand by our business and our work."
