Priscilla Stevens

We recently rented from Priscilla under the understanding that she would take $50 off the monthly rent if we made minor repairs in the house as they came up. During this time we completely dug up the back yard (which was covered in vines and roots) and planted shade grass (which we paid for on top of the $7800). We also sanded down and re-painted the front door (took 4 cans of spray paint, 1 can of primer, and a special attachment for our drill out of pocket on top of the $7800). During the time we lived there, a leak developed from the bathroom in the apartment above us. Water was pouring through our ceiling fan, soaking our carpet and creating mildew. This leak continued for weeks before she finally sent someone to look at it. After they "fixed" it, the leak continued for months! She told us we would have to move out because she would have to tear out the ceiling to fix it. Our lease was not yet up. She finally fixed it after we returned one day and parts of the ceiling had collapsed. (Of course she tried to complain about stains in the carpet when we moved out.) Another problem we had with her was that we were told we could move in July 1st. We had already set a date to move out of our other place when she told us it wouldn't be ready. We ended up having to stay with my in-laws until AUGUST 25TH!!! We had various other problems (including problems in the old plumbing of the house, which meant the front yard had to be dug up) in the house, which she always tried to blame on us and it always took her a long time to fix. The final straws were 1) a problem with a wall, and 2) the washer and dryer. When we had just moved in, my husbands brother had touched one of the walls and it cracked. She came over and picked a huge hole in it and then said we would need to replace the drywall. Come to find out there was no drywall, it was a plaster board that was less than an inch thick. Since she had hired many fly-by-night people to fix it (one of which stole money from her in the beginning). We ended up repairing a HUGE section of the wall, sanding it down, and painting it. As for the washer and dryer, she had purchased a washer and dryer to keep in the house from a yard sale. She did not get the exhaust hose for the dryer and then tried to blame us because we did not hook a hose up to the vent opening. Is she serious?!?! Then, to top it off, after we cleaned the entire house and shampooed the carpets, she tracked mud in on the carpet and tried to say it was a grease stain and blamed it on us! She refused to do a walk-through with us and yelled at my husband on the phone over the deposit and then hung up on him! There are a million other stories I could tell, but extremely an long story short, she has refused to give us our entire deposit back. We were great tenants who always paid our rent on time. Actually we usually had to call her to remind her it was due! AHHHH! She is a slum lord to the extreme!
