Eldred Van & Storage- North American Van Lines

These people are NOT pros. They get paid $8.00/ hour, straight from them. All we heard is how cheap Eldred was and hate their jobs.They started by not bringing garment boxes, crushed 5, $1,800.00 suits into a 2x2 box. There was over $16,000.00 in missing items, (although I submitted a claim for less because I didn’t check my hand tool boxes ), mostly Milwaukee Power tools. A Korean Jewelry box, valued at $1,800. My black leather coat and more. They went into every dresser drawer looking for more and they got more items in there. They dented and damaged both, the washer and dryer. We are both disabled and took off with our safety ladder and Left a bed un assembled. We Did file a police report. All six were called in, but nobody ratted anyone out. We Filed a claim. They just ignored it. After calling old man Eldred, we were told,(by him), he’d look at it. Turned out, he took off for Florida a few days later. DO NOT HIRE THESE AMATEURS. Remember this:..What goes on that truck, is NO guarantee it’s coming off.

Movers were prompt, friendly and hard workers given the tools they have to work with. Our personal opinion is it was not worth the price we paid to move and would not personally recommend them..

Well. Everything arrived on-time and in good shape.

However, the office manager failed to give us a refund of $56.00 which was due to us because we did not use all of the company's moving boxes. We called them twice and stopped in the office once requesting the money. We received excuses and no refund. For this reason we would not use them again.

The first experience I had with Eldred was when I had them move my belongings into a storage unit from my apartment. Although a little unprofessional the workers did not seem too bad, they moved my property from my apartment into a storage unit located in Terre Haute Indiana. Four months later I called Eldred again to have my belongings moved from the storage unit to Indianapolis, this is where the problems began. When the Eldred movers arrived the second time they immediately began criticizing the work done by the prior Eldred moving team. They were pulling my furniture out and showing me the damage due to improper stacking. Examples- stacked my kitchen chairs on my leather couch puncturing the leather and stretching it out in places, punture holes in the wood of one of my dressers, the bars that attach my mirror to my larger dresser were completely bent beyond repair, irrepairable damage to my bowflex treadmill, etc. I immediately called Eldred to complain and they told me the owners were out of town to call back in two weeks. In two weeks I returned the call and they had me send pictures I took to an email address with all of the damages. After I sent the email I waited approx 1 week and still had not heard anything back from the company so I called again. This call and every call after were the exact same they told me (and I called 3-4 times per week) they would call me back they were busy but they reviewed my pictures and "assured" me they would return my call the next day. On one occasion the owner told me she hadn't returned my call due to having a migraine. After two months of this I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau which also could not get them to respond and closed the complaint and listed it on the BBB Reliability Report. I still have not received any compensation for my damaged property or a return call from the company and it has been four months.
