Called for an estimate to remove PTO clutch from underneath lawn tractor. We had mower deck removed, just did not have a "puller" to remove the clutch. The part is basically a pulley, pulls off and slide new one on. They quoted us a "at most 120.00 but probably $80-90". Called to see if it was done and they said it would be 249.00. "It took longer than I thought". No phone call, nothing, but a surprise bill. Said quoted 2 hours but it took 3. Well the calculation didnt add up either. Upon my investigation I found that a shop can not legally charge over 110% on a verbal quote, and cannot charge a customer beyond the quote on a written quote without contacting the customer. My bill at the 110% would have been 252.00 HOW CONVENIENT they charged me 249.00 to stay under the "law". WATCH THESE PEOPLE AND DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING FOR SERVICE WITHOUT A WRITTEN QUOTE!!!

price - a bit stiff - but so is a gallon of gas, eh.
would i buy another john deer mower, yes.
