Description of Work: They repaired a family heirloom anniversary clock. Mark patiently showed me how to care for the clock in the future. They are very back-logged, so the wait was about 6 months for the repair. However, it was well worth it.

Nr. Lamb is extremely knowledgeable and meticulous. I really appreciated the time he took to explain (1) what he did (2) precautions I should take (3) and in general, how the various functions of the clock (insides) work. Being an antique there are things that the owner needs to know how to do, such as resetting the chiming mechanism if it gets out of synch. This is an excellent place to get repairs on an antique or heirloom clock.
Description of Work: They repaired/serviced an antique wall clock in an excellent manner.

My husband purchased a wall clock for me around 30 years ago. It was a wind up wall clock with a wood frame. We purchased it in Broad Ripple at the clock shop that was there at the time. It kept very good time and was not in for any work. When it finally quit, we took it to the Speedway shop in order to obtain an estimate of repair etc. At that time, it had been 30 years of winding and rewinding and it finally just gave out. In order to repair it to it's new condition, it was going to cost around $725.00 and would take approx 2-4 years to repair. However, if we wanted it changed to a battery clock that would have Westminster chimes, it could be repaired for $125.00. The clock was made in Korea and it was probably not worth the $400.00 that we previously paid for it, so we decided to change it to battery. He gave us an estimate date of around 2 months, however, it actually took only around 2 weeks. He could not take credit cards, which was fine with us, so we picked it up and we are very happy with the repairs and our decision, Later, we may purchase another wall clock, but for now we are pleased. He was very knowledgable and gave us all the information we needed to make an informed decision. We would use him again!
Description of Work: He had to change the wall clock into a battery. He could have repaired it the way it was; however, it would have cost much more than the original price. The clock originally cost around $400.00 but to make the corrections and replace the internal components, it would have cost around $725.00 and would take around 2 years to complete.

To my recollection, the estimated price to rebuild the original movement was $400.00 not the $725.00 you have mentioned above. I do want to thank you for the kind words and favorable ratings. It is a pleasure doing business with quality customers as well as quality vendors.

Absolutely perfect. I can't say anymore. I will use this company for all future preventive maintenance.
Description of Work: I have a grandfather clock that is approximately 40 years old that my parents gave me in 1991. The clock had run continuously since 1991 without any service and by January of this year needed some service. I called Mark Lamb at Speedway Trophy Center and Clock Repair for service. He came out to my home and found after that many years of non-stop operation without ever being lubricated that the mechanism was just worn out. He ordered a new movement mechanism and relocated the chime selection choice lever as new mechanisms did not have it in the same location on the clock face. Mark was extremely professional and followed through to the letter on price and when the new mechanism would be in. I am very satisfied as the clock has kept perfect time since Feb. 21, 2013.

Response to [member name removed] comments, price on clock #1: est. $400, final price $437.45 and time frame est. was 1-2 years. Clock #1 was completed and clock was picked up within 9 months, dropped off 9/7/07 picked up on 6/3/08. Clock #2 price est. was $125 in labor plus parts. Final price was $215.10 this clock did require new mainsprings, the old ones were torn and damaged along with a damaged ratchet wheel plus a new key. Time frame est on clock #2 was 2-4 months. Dropped off 2/19/07 and picked up on 5/16/07 less than 3 months. Well within the time frame that we agreed to on both clocks. Almost all estimates are performed in front of the customer and the customer agrees to the terms at that time. I was able to repair his clocks with in the agreed to time frames and very close to estimated amounts of money we agreed to. Total for both clocks was $652.55. The last contact with [member name removed] was 6/3/2008. I would like to thank [member name removed] for his business. I just felt it necessary to present the facts as written on the tickets.

The work required knowledge as to how grandfather clocks works. As there are many brands and types requires great skill and experience to walk in cold to a strange clock and be able to immediately know what and how to fix it. This contractor had what it takes to fix. His skill and knowledge and willingness to show me what he was doing and why. Keep doing what you are doing!
Description of Work: Cleaned and lubricated the clock mechanisms. Reset all the workings, chimes, pendulum, etc. Gave me instructions on how to best care for clock to maintain properly.

Mark worked with me to find an acceptable time to come and do the work. He didn't mind me watching him while he worked. The clock had quit chiming, and he got that repaired quickly. He then took the time to be sure that I knew how to keep the clock in good working order. He even got the moon phase part of the clock working again, something a previous repairman had told me was impossible to fix.

Mark returned my initial call promptly and made a house visit within the week of my call. He seemed very knowledgeable in talking about what needed to be done to the clock to get it sounding correct when playing the quarterly chimes. After spending a considerable time working on the clock, he needed to re-do parts of the mechanism so he gave us an estimate of the price of the work, a time frame and then he followed through by returning a week or so later to replace the parts he repaired. The clock sounds great. He was very nice to work with and we will call him again when we have clock work to be done.
Description of Work: We had a 100+ year old grandfather clock that needed its chimes repaired plus general servicing, Mark was able to correct the sound of the chimes, fixed the moon clock and gave us lessons on how to take care of our clock.

Our antique wall clock stopped running. Speedway Clock Repair was recommended to us by a well-qualified person who no longer works on antique clocks. When we took the clock to the shop, Mark took it apart while we waited, so he could examine it and explain to us what he had to do. The final bill was $60 less than the estimate, because he was able to "flip" a gear rather than cut a new one. Because of the repair backlog in the shop, he estimated a 12-14 month wait, it turned out to be 12 months. When we picked up the clock, Mark took 30 minutes to show us what he had done and gave us many helpful suggestions for maintaining the clock in good running order. We are very pleased with the quality of the work and with the care Mark puts into his work.
Description of Work: Cleaned and overhauled a 150 year old antique wall clock. Replaced the mainspring and "flipped" the main gear.
