I drive a Land Rover LR3 which I brought with me when I moved to South Bend from Minneapolis. The closest Land Rover dealership is 70 miles away in Fort Wayne, and it's been my experience that Land Rovers are not looked upon favorably by many independent garages - so getting my vehicle serviced here has not been a lot of fun.
My first issue was when the car alarm started going off at random times, which annoyed my neighbors and embarrassed me. Turns out it's a fairly common problem with vehicles like mine and the culprit is one of the hood latches that has an "open" sensor in it. Buying the new part was fairly easy, but finding someone who would put it in for me was not. Keep in mind that this is a proprietary part, not something you can get at Auto Zone or Napa. Finally a friend recommended Rick's so I took my vehicle in. They were busy but to my surprise they made an appointment for me to bring it back and didn't make a lot of fuss about it. Long story short, they installed the part quickly and charged a very reasonable amount of money (which if you've ever paid dealership prices for repairs to a Land Rover you know is a real blessing). Haven't had a single false alarm since.
Today I took it in again to have a burned-out brake light replaced. SUVs in general aren't as easy to work with as sedans when it comes to replacing tali lights because you can't get at the light assembly from inside the trunk. the lens has to come off. And if the screws that hold the lens on are rusty, which they frequently are, getting the lens off without destroying something isn't easy. On my first visit yesterday they tried to replace the bulb on the spot, but one of the lens screws wouldn't come out so I had to make an appointment for me to bring it back today. They were actually booked up for today, but since a non-working brake light is considered a safety issue they worked me in. Again, long story short, they fixed it quickly for a reasonable amount of money, considering the amount of work involved.
Bottom line from my standpoint is that if Rick's does oddball jobs on quirky vehicles for a reasonable price and without batting an eye, they're probably the place to go for anyone's automotive repair needs for any vehicle.
There's one more thing I should mention: Rick's is a busy place. You're not going to be approached by a service adviser who will escort you to his or her desk away from the hubbub. You'll probably have to wait in line behind several people who are paying for gas or buying licorice whips, and the phones will be ringing off the hooks. But's worth the wait and a little patience.

My car started to overheat so dropped my car off the evening of 8/4 to have it checked out; one of the guys did run me home (about a mile), so that was nice. They had my car all day on 8/5 (I was home from work for a vacation day, so the day was pretty much shot) and it wasn't ready until about 5:30pm that day. I drove it about 6 miles and noticed it was starting to overheat again. I dropped it off again the morning of 8/6 and they had it all day again. A plug had either been left out or it fell out, so the fluid drained out again.
They admitted what had happened and were honest about it, but I was a little concerned as to me, it could have done some major damage to my car.

They do our towing as well as some auto work. This service was to drain and put in my anti-freeze. Done well and in a timely manner. We will have more work done with them in the future. I didn't give an "A" because I have not had any serious work done with them.

We've used them twice in the past two months. The tail light was $11 and the other was $39. My parents used him when my dad was alive. My dad was an automobile salesman so he knew his stuff so that's why we went over there. They are honest, kind and considerate. They will let us know if we can come that day or another day. If we drop in they will try to accommodate us as soon as possible. They are excellent mechanics.
