A Legacy Built on Experience, Service, and Trust At Michiana Veterans Home & Building Services, our story began in Chicago in 1995 when our founder, Marc Shudnow, bought a fixer-upper, got scammed by contractors, and decided to fix it himself. That trial by fire sparked a lifelong dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and doing right by homeowners. Marc later became a licensed home inspector, giving him a unique perspective on how to build, repair, and improve homes with a sharp eye for detail and safety. Today, Marc runs day-to-day operations while his wife, Ivana Shudnow, proudly serves as the majority owner. Together, they’ve built a company rooted in family values, veteran pride, and a no-nonsense commitment to quality.

Doors (Exterior) Installation and Replacement
They did a great job of installing entry door. However, the storm door was not put in correctly. Not leveled. They left grout on entry tiles that my husband had to research how to remove. Did not finish the drywall patching or putting the door trim up. the job did not take two days like he quoted it would take. I felt I was overcharged for having to pay for the extra hours. He never offered to reimburse me for any of the issues that I brought to his attention. ?

The company stayed in constant communication. When they were on their way, who was coming and what to expect....there were no hidden fees or "extra" charges....very upfront honest company

Showed up on time both times, there was an equipment breakdown the first time but they were able to come back a couple of days later to finish the work. They offered a good price and I was completely satisfied.

I was surprised after he left to find the old dryer vent tubing laying in the hallway with dust balls. He also didnâ t have my correct phone number so I didnâ t get the call about changed timing.
