Acorn Construction

I had known that I needed a new roof for the past five years, but since the roof wasn't leaking, it was easy to put off.  However, when high winds peeled back a huge section of my roof and ripped the fascia off, it became urgent.  Acorn was the first of three companies who gave us estimates.  Scott was very timely; he came the day following my phone call and I had an estimate within a couple days after that.  The other two estimates were considerably higher-one was $20-25,000 and the other was $41,000.  
I decided to go with Acorn and found Scott very accommodating in rewriting the estimate to be sure that the repairs the insurance company was authorizing were specified in the contract.  The actual work started four days after we accepted Acorn's bid.

I have nothing but positive things to say about this company.  I don't know for sure how many guys were on the crew (at least six) and it was obvious that they were a seasoned crew.  When they started removing my old roof, they realized that there were four layers that needed to be removed.  Each person was busy the entire time they were there and even worked during a light rain.   They placed tarps on the ground around the house and the clean-up was remarkable.  I haven't found so much as a screw on the ground!  I also appreciated that Scott had his own truck that was used to haul away the debris, so I didn't have a huge dumpster sitting in the yard.

Tearing the old roof off and installing the two part roof system took around a day and a half.  I have a fairly large  single story home with a flat roof, and I'm guessing 2800 square feet of roof.  Replacing the fascia took a few days, as it was a rainy week.  I want to add that Scott did all the fascia work himself, and  I was impressed with the level of attention he paid to detail.

So, my new roof looks great as does the new trim.    I feel confident that this is a company that takes great pride in its work.   I am so pleased that I made the decision to go with Acorn.

His crew is remarkable both in their work ethic and their skill. For all the scrap and debris they scraped off the old roof I found only one small piece of black liner in the yard after they left. I confidently recommend them for any roofing job.

We needed a total roof replacement and Acorn responded quickly to our request for a quote. They provided us with several references and opportunities to view the shingles we were considering. They arrived exactly when they said they would and finished exactly when they said they would. The area was cleaned up after each day and it hardly looked as though they had been there at all.We were in the process of selling our home and Scott took time to meet the prospective buyer and answer their questions. He even made suggestions that would benefit the new owner. At the last minute, we decided to chang the color selection and that did not present a problem. I would not recommend Acorn. There were a lot of homes that were damaged and we chose Acorn because they appeared to be getting all of these other houses done pretty quickly. We changed our ventilation systems on our roof and they did not bother to open up the vents. What they did was they took out the old vents on the side and did not bother to open the top so our attic was getting no ventilation. We had staples and nails all over the place, there were even guys that fell off the roof. Every day I had to come home and pick up their staples, nails, and coffee cups. We had siding fall off after they were done. They even left their equipment here for 3 or 4 weeks after they were done with the job. When we called them telling them to grab their equipment, they cursed out my husband, using every word in the book. It was raining one day and they did not put plywood anywhere so they spread mud all over. The owner also got upset because he had to do an itemization with the insurance company to get paid. They also ripped some of the screens on our windows when they were putting up our siding.

He arrived right at the scheduled time, had clean shoes, was very patient and understanding listiening carefully as we gave him the full story complete with details that I am sure were far too great. He was extremely gracious with his time for the estimate and thoguth full in how he performed the repair. He was on time for the repair desipte rain and even used a method to ensure the repair dried despite the rain at no additional cost. The repair took about 2 hours to complete and lasted until after 5 on the night before Thanksgiving. Great response and high level of care for their client!

Old asphalt roof that lost some singles in a wind storm. Contacted several contractors. Acorn Construction gave the most prompt response to initial call for estimate, estimate given at time of initial visit. Completed roofing within 2 weeks of estimate. The job, an entire roof (tear-off and replacement), was completed in one, long day (it was in July during 90 degree weather!) Cleaned all debris from area. Gutters took longer to get started, but finished in one day. Overall, one of the best experiences I've had with a contractor!
