"Actually, we only had 3 hrs. involved with this repair NOT 5! The client was only invoiced for 2 of the three hrs. We DID properly repair their faucet. It just took longer because the faucet in question had a manufacturers defect which we were able to successfully repair but it took extra time to properly diagnose and identify the root of the problem. This was NOT a straight forward repair. If this was such an easy repair, why was I hired? The prices Mrs. [Member Name Removed] has quoted are surely off. The cost of a product is not what we charge for something we would supply. There is markup on all parts, faucets, piping, etc. If we were to replace the faucet it would have cost more for the Bedermans. therefore if the cost of services is the sole reason for this client issue, she should be happy and not upset over the invoice total. (We SAVED them money!) I would also like to add that offering opinion on a subject when you were not present at the time of service is totally inappropriate, therefore this claim is illegitimate. I dealt with DAVE [Member Name Removed] not [Member Name Removed] Furthermore, SLANDERING a company or its technicians is completely outrageous especially when you are not associated with other clients issues YOU DON'T KNOW!! our company profile on Angies List and BBB are Great considering the day in and day out challenges of being in a customer service business. Our reputation speaks for itself."
The owner of the company was the plumber who came and he had an assistant. He did call to see if he could come earlier than scheduled and that was great since my plumbing was backed up and we have 7 kids. He initially told me that the base price was $135.00. I said that was fine. I explained when he got here that we have two lines and showed him where both were in the basement. He declined cleaning them from the basement so as not to make a mess, which I made clear I did not care about since it was already a mess. He also made it clear he didn't really want to do the second line because the pipe outside was too small. He cleaned out the first line outside and did not get many roots. He then let me know that to clean the second line would cost an extra $105.00. I knew that my husband wanted both done so I had to agree. He did the second line and also found very few roots. I then proceeded to point out that the section he wasn't getting because he didn't do it from the basement has an aged silver maple tree growing right over it and that another guy had gotten a ton of roots from there in the past. Then he lets me know that it will cost me $105.00 more to do it from there since every new section costs extra. I said that since that was where I had made it clear I wanted him to do it from in the first place that I wasn't sure why it should cost extra, and he said that regardless it would still cost extra. I let him know that if that was truly the case then I would never work with their company again and he still said that it would cost $105.00 more. He then proceeded to pack up and then bring me my bill. The bill states and quot;snaked main drain from 2 o.s.c.o. with 2 1/2and quot; and 4and quot; cuplutters (?) 100' pulled out some roots e. c.o. Offered to run cable through basement c.o. for additional $105 but homeowner/client did not approve.and quot; which I did not read until he walked out of the house. The price for all of this was broken down as: (2)main sewer $155+105 (260) and Estimate fee/ trip charge 20- This made the total $280.00. I thought that it was $135+$105!!!! I paid the money and then called the number provided and complained about the overcharging and the deceit on not doing it right from the start. I also will add that the way the boss treated the assistant was appalling and I let the lady who answered know that he deserved a huge raise for having to deal with a guy that is that demeaning all day. That is when I found out that he was actually the owner and the only thing that could be done is let him know I was upset. I said what's the point he already knows.
******to date (a month later) my family returned from an extended camping trip to pipes that were CALLAPSED and a letter from a debt collector from ACE plumbing. I never signed saying I would pay and my husband had me cancel the check for services not rendered. In his explanation ACE neglected to say he flat out refused to do the cleaning from where I asked and I asked for it to be done from the basement cleanout FIRST. I have learned that if I am refused in the services I am asking for then I ask the intimidating guy to leave instead of doing it his way.
"Unfortunately, there has been some sort of misunderstanding on the part of Mrs. [member name removed]. She was verbally given minimum pricing of $175.00 over the phone. This pricing consists of $155.00 minimum labor to attempt to clear a main drain, plus a $20 trip charge. We, however, cannot control how one may hear or perceive information. It was not made clear to me that she wanted us to use the basement cleanout until after we performed the first two verbally approved cleanings for the pricing as stated in her complaint. I decided against using the basement c.o. for two specific reasons. First, I reserve the right not to make any unnecessary mess nor do I feel I should have to work in someone else's wastewater. Second was because I did not feel our equipment would fit down through the seemingly tight stairway to the basement. I did not mention the feasibility of fitting equipment into the basement due to the reasoning discussed prior. She accepted this decision at that time. I explained to [member name removed] that we could attempt to use that basement cleanout and clear that section but she would need to pay an additional $105 for us to do so. To make things more clear we charge $155 per main drain cleaning. While on the job we offer a discounted rate of $105 per additional main drain cleaning. This was not discussed over the phone because we were not given the necessary information so that we could inform Mrs. [member name removed] of these rates. We did not know she wanted us to clean 3 sections of main drain until we were already there working. That is when I made it clear about our pricing. She did point out several locations of cleanouts. After all the concern I offered to come back and attempt to get my drain equipment into basement and clear the drain from that cleanout at no charge, if my equipment would fit down through stairway. I was again denied. Services were rendered, and the drain was opened and flowing upon job completion. I would advise that a full size, easily accessible cleanout be installed at ground level connected to east side basement c.o. so that the drain can be cleaned by a professional."
They showed up one time, even a bit early, which was welcome due to the nature of the leak.
