1st Choice Fire and Water Restoration

I was really impressed that they called me back this morning to follow up.  Even though I had already found another company to do the work, 1st Choice called to see if I still needed their service and to make sure I was taken care of.  They were professionl and courteous.

I hired them through my insurance company. They put my house back together for $186,000 which the insurance company paid. They are trying to tell me that I will have to pay $6400 for the punch list. They hired roofers that are supposedly really good, but I already have roof damage after such a short time. My downstairs bathroom smells like smoke. They think that I don?t know what I?m talking about, but there are so many problems and corners that they have cut with my house. Even simple things like lazy susans that should be easy to change, are not corrected. It took them a year ot get the humidifier thermostat installed. The floor is not level, the closet doors are coming unscrewed, they put the door knob on incorrectly in my garage, and my cabinets are hung way too high. The frame around my bedroom door is two inches too high, and my son's ceiling fan stopped working. It is probably due to the water damage. The lights also won't come on. My family room ceiling has a vent pipe hanging down right by the kitchen. There is mold around my bathtub since the caulking was done so poorly. My mother-in-law?s room is not properly heated, and they will not fix it. They have treated me like a nagging ignorant woman, even though I have legitimate complaints. I had a $500 wooden sleigh bed that was only returned to me as the headboard and footboard since they lost the middle. They also lost very expensive rugs of mine that I have not been able to get back. They wouldn't install the doorbell. They left the ventilation system full of wood blocks, dust, and debris, so all of our new things are full of dust. This has also led me to have to change the filters several times. They did not follow through with me and it has caused so much frustration. The work was below satisfactory. 

Six months ago they told me they had given me too much money back. They also said they had already advised me there would be a charge for the punch list which is not true. This was supposed to be completed over a year ago, and kept putting me off telling me they would get back to me. Over a year later they are now contacting me about the payment, but the punch list still is not done. He told me not to contact them anymore.
