I think i was gouged. The capacitor is a $50 retail item I had to pay $156 for. In addition to a response and diagnose fee of $129. The tech WAS real professional, and the service call lasted about an hour. I paid over $200 per hour for the labor, and was charges for 16 oz of R-22 when the scale showed 10 oz.WAY overpriced.

"Member, I'm sorry you feel our company gouged you. But let's look at the facts. 1. You called on a holiday weekend and our company was at your doorstep in less than 2 hours on day over 90 degrees. Which is a fast response. A. You told us your "regular heating company" took the holiday the weekend off. B. We work 24/7/365. So we can repair your system when it fails on 90 degree days as well as sub zero in the wintertime. 2, If your capacitor was less than a year old, then your "heating company" should have taken care of it under warranty. A. The burnt wiring was repaired in the same charge as the capacitor. 3. Most if not all heating contractors sell refrigerant by the pound, not by the ounce. A. We feel that $48.60 per pound with labor and sales tax is a reasonable price. With a maintenance agreement its $38.88 per pound. 4. Member, you were told when you called in the service tech would collect for the call when the job is completed. Not 10 days later."

The company was recommended by our realtor when we purchased our home. They did not install the heating and cooling system (it cae with the house), but have always serviced it without any issues. We purchase a service agreement each year to have the system serviced and inspected. If we do not call for an appointment, they always call us as a reminder. The price for the service agreement we think is quite reasonable. However when we had them give us an estimate on a new system, it was a bit high. Overall, we have been quite satisfied with their work.
