We rent. I have sewer gas belching into the basement and it makes my whole house stink and makes us physically ill. I told the landlord, who sent this guy. He said he'd be here by late morning. I asked him on the phone to call when he was on his way. He showed up unannounced at 1:30. I told him that the smell is much, much worse at night and in the morning, and he said "it's not that bad in here now." (it smells disgusting any time of day) I told him that the smell gets somewhat less in the morning after we shower and start dishes and laundry, and he said, "hmm, I wonder why that is." I asked him if he planned on doing any tests, and he walked away and ignored my question. I told him that the bathtub drain gurgled when I flush the toilet and he didn't seem to care. He found a pipe that was closed off with duct tape, so he replaced the duct tape with a cap and told me, "see if that helps," and left. He was here less than 30 minutes, and guess what, the house still smells like fart. Our eyes burn and we are nauseous and have headaches, and I can't let my kids sleep in their downstairs bedrooms anymore. Now I have to pay a REAL plumber, out of my own pocket, to help, because this guy is a joke and my landlord is a jerk.
