B&J came recommended through a realtor and the work was done timely and cost-effectively.

Coverage was very poor, contract was for a two year warranty. Called multiple times for a re-do and would get a date confirmed but the company would never show up.

The company was unprofessional from the start and insisted that they were affiliated with Orr Paving in Plainfield. Once hired, they worked quickly but the workers were loudly cursing and throwing their trash in the yard and my neighbors yards. Halfway through the job they denied any involvement with Orr Paving and Orr verified it. The asphalt was poorly laid with pits and roller marks. They didn't make a proper foundation and the driveway slopes down to the garage where water will now flood my garage. They left piles of asphalt in my yard, my neighbors driveway, and down the street. They did not rope off the drive even after I asked them to. They also drove through another yard and left 2 feet deep tire ruts. It took me and my husband 2 hours to clean up their messes. I called the owner asking for him to fix the issues and he called me a lair and threatened to sue me for slander, though all the issues are thoroughly documented and verified by another reputable paving company. The second opinion said the pavement would not last through the winter. I fully regret hiring this company!

My husband reached out for a quote to have our driveway replaced and have an extension added. Joe Orr was quick to respond on an estimate. He came out the next day and agreed on a price. They did the work when they said they were going to do the work. The work was average, asphalt was not extremely smooth or even. The problem came a few months later - where we had a 3 ft section crumble and fall apart. We have noticed grass growing through the asphalt and sections holding water. The biggest issue I have is getting them to come back and fix this per their contract warranty. I have called and spoken to Joe Orr numerous times and been told they would come out. We called in March, April, May and today (June). I even emailed pictures of the driveway problems and as of today June 15, 2016- they have yet to come.

B & J Blacktop Paving does herby propose to start a payment plan beginning in April of 2013 and continuing on 15th of each month until the total balance is repaid.      AT THIS TIME WE HAVE NOT SEEN THE FIRST PAYMENT !!!!!!!

After completion of the driveway, attempts were made to contact Joe Orr to discuss concerns with the driveway crumbling and water standing, which is asphalts biggest problem.  Joe Orr made promise after promise to fix this problem but of course never showed.  Seven months later still no Joe.  We are still under warranty, which indicates 1 year, but if you can't get anyone to answer you now, really doesn't matter how long your warranty is.  We are just waiting for winter to come and go to see what damage comes after a freeze.  Joe Orr made promise after promise.  I would suggest again, if you see Joe say No.

Talked to Joe Orr of Joe Orr paving and sealcoat. He wanted to sealcoat my drive but I told him I was putting in a u shape drive to connect to my original drive. He said he does that too with his dad at B&J Paving. He gave me an est that was $2000 cheaper the my other est and promised he would do a better job. All lines would run even with house, be a wide as my other drive and 4 inches of asphalt. He did nothing he promised except put down the asphalt and it was well substandard.  It was uneven, has dips, isn't straight with house, edges aren't straight. Colvert has no ends and they put my downspout below ground level which mean their is no were for the water to go and in the winter it will back up  and freeze downspout and cause roof problems, I told him not to put the downspout in that way because of the problem it would cause and he even told the bobcat operator then I had to leave for work and after all that it still got buried. He also sealcoated my existing drive, he said he would fill all the cracks with hot fill then brush on sealcoat. Well he did brush on the sealcoat but failed to fill any of the cracks. After a week he finally returned my calls only because I threatened him with a lawsuit. He promised to be out the next day, that was 2 weeks ago and I have yet to see him.

There were some areas cracking because of the soil shifting over the winter so he fixed it for no fee. I’m glad they fixed it but it took him awhile to come out and do it. Some of the delays were weather related so I understand that, but I had to call him multiple times before he came out. It is in good shape now. His rates were lower than some quotes that we received and we had a decent experience with him. I would consider using this company again.

The job went fine. They guy who came out was really friendly. He was quick to call us back when we left a message. He got us an estimate very quickly. I would use their service in the future too.

They had initially put in the driveway a few years ago. I liked them the first time but I did not like it the second time. They sent out a guy who came an hour later than what he had said. He had excuses about nobody showing up to help him. The work is all uneven. I would not be using them again in the future.

The initial part of the job where they came out and looked at the site went well. The job itself only took one day and it looked decent. About a week or two later I noticed that I was getting grass growing through the driveway. I was under the impression that he was going to regrade my driveway beforehand, but he did not pull out the grass plugs. I had to put grasskiller down to kill the weeds. I called him to come out to look at it. He has not responded to come down and take a look at it. I called him a few times since and have not heard anything back. I felt that some areas he did not use enough of the blacktop. Some areas had more than other areas. I am the most dissapointed in that he has not contacted me since I have contacted him a few times.

They showed up a few minutes late but did a outstanding job for us.

When they first did it they poured it in a crooked line. When they came back to correct it, they just patched it and the asphalt has now crumbled and is killing the grass. It is also holding water in spots where it is low. I have called them 3 different times to come out and they keep putting me off. They say they will come out but they never do. I would not recommend this company.

We had originally contacted B&J early this spring but was unable to proceed at that time. After drying out from our very wet Spring and early Summer, we requested a new estimate from owner Joe Orr. Although the estimate was considerably more than the first estimate due to the increased price of asphalt, we accepted Joe's bid, which was still less than several others. We felt very comfortable with Joe and shook hands to seal the deal. Joe told us it would be at least a couple of weeks before they could get to the job, so after about three weeks, we called to see how close we were to getting the work done. Joe set an appointment for Friday of the following week. The crew showed up unannounced with the equipment on Thursday afternoon to see if they could get an early start. Not a problem for us but could have been if we had gone out since we had not expected them until Friday. Joe was on site though out the job and worked with the crew. He was attentive and responsive to every detail and offered some valuable suggestions. Joe and his crew worked very hard to try and make sure we were happy. The work was completed on Friday afternoon and we were thrilled with the results. I would highly recommend B&J to anyone.

It was a favorable service experience.

We are very pleased with the outcome. Our highest bid was $10,000. We paid B&J $3900. The work was performed in August of 2002 and still looks great. We took care of it like they instructed us to and have had no problems.

WE HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A FORMAL WRITTEN ESTIMATE. THE WORK DOES STILL LOOK NICE, IT IS OK. WE THINK THAT MY HUSBAND'S CHECK IS THE ONLY TYPE OF RECEIPT OF THE WORK. THEY CHARGED US $300 EXTRA FOR BUMPERS ON THE SIDE. I WOULD DEFINITELY DO MORE BIDDING AND PRICE BEFORE I WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN. THEY DID EVERYONE'S WORK IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, WHICH WAS A VERY HARD PRESSURE SELLING.

A MAN KNOCKED ON OUR DOOR ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON TO SAY HE WOULD PAVE OUR DRIVEWAY THAT DAY FOR A REALLY GOOD PRICE BECAUSE THEY WERE DOING A JOB UP THE ROAD AND HAD HALF A DAY LEFT TO WORK. I WAS SURE THIS WAS A CON JOB AND WANTED NO PART OF IT. BUT MY HUSBAND WANTED TO CHECK IT OUT. HE WENT TO THE SITE WHERE THEY WERE WORKING WHILE I CALLED THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND CHECKED ANGIE'S LIST. THEY WERE LEGIT AND THE BAD REFERENCE ON ANGIE'S LIST WAS AN OLD ONE. WE HIRED THEM AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB THAT VERY AFTERNOON. THEY PREPARED THE DRIVEWAY, LEVELED OFF THE LOW SPOTS, POURED 3-INCHES OF ASPHALT AND TAMPED THE SIDES, MADE IT EVEN WITH THE GARAGE AND THE STREET AND DID A VERY GOOD JOB. WE WILL HIRE THEM TO SEAL IT IN A FEW MONTHS.

WE LATER LEARNED THAT ALL THE OWNERS OF PAVING COMPANIES IN PLAINFIELD ARE SOME HOW ONE COMPANY, SOME ARE GOOD SOME ARE NOT
