Drain Cleaning
We had a drainage emergency. Of all the providers in the area, only this one was willing to come within three days, and he came the same day -- the same morning, in fact. He was initially unable to clear the drain through conventional means, so he had us dig to find the drain pipe on the side of our house and told us he would return with a device that might help. once we found the line. My sons dug a hole and found the drain pipe, and he returned. He drilled a hole in the pipe and inserted a device that quickly cleared the line. Once the line was flowing, he went to the drail end and ran a device through the lines that did a thorough cleaning of the entire line. Everything was resolved the same day.
At the time, I was upset that he wanted us to dig and find the drain line, but in retrospect it worked out. The total charge was right around $100, which is very fair, especially relative to the magnitude of our problem. If we had someone excavate, I'm quite sure the charge would have been several orders of magnitude higher, and we know how to use a shovel. For someone living alone, with infirmities, I can see how this would be a limiting factor when seeking his help.
The only word of caution I have is that the provider was very difficult to communicate with. He was hard to understand, both on the phone and in person, and we were frequently unsure if he undertstood us. In the end, however, he did everything he committed to, and he was the only one who was willing to help us that day.
