It's been 10 years but I recall it taking 2 days, was a little dusty, but the result was a very functional and attractive addition to our homes value.

At about the 10-year mark there was a partial failure with the caulking.  I had no idea how to correctly repair it myself so I called Midwest.  They came out and removed the bad caulk and repaired it in about 15 minutes - at no cost.  That's 10 years later and no charge to drive down 45 miles and fix it.

I liked dealing with the people. It was a daughter and a mother who started the business. They knew people we knew. They've been around here for a while. They were good to work with and they saved me money. They worked with me. I love my shower. It's like a room. I love it.

Quality of workmanship was superior. Easy to discuss changes and listened to ongoing changes. Cost estimates reasonable and did not raise costs due to small design changes. Not timely on completion schedule. Crews seemed a bit unorganized at times but end quality is good.

The project started a week or two late due to product not being in for the bathroom.  Due to this, we started with the  tile work and trim in the kitchen. After everything was done, it was not to my satisfaction, the finishing is just now what I had expected.  I let them know that I was not satisfied, and they tried to make improvements to it, and it looks worse than it originally did.  Once all the bathroom pieces had arrived, we realized that they had ordered the wrong tub, so it took a while to get the new tub.  Luxury Baths was not willing to do an itemized list of charges for tub, etc. Long story short, she had ordered all the wrong components for this remodel-- tub, brass pieces, mirrors, etc.  They also informed me that they could not obtain the toilet I ordered until after the work was started.  They did a very poor job of installing this new bathroom after everything else finally came in, including painting, caulking, etc.  They have left most everything a mess, and will it require it to be fixed by someone else, though it will not take long.  The installer was very nice, but it just seems like he had to much on his plate, and had to worry about other jobs.


Update:

The caulking around the tile is loose and is coming out around the tile in the kitchen (backsplash).  It has been approximately six months since it has been done and I am having to have someone else come out and fix it.  The pocket door between the bathroom and bedroom right now it is not working at all, I can not pull the door out to use it.


Update 2 (9/22/2014): I have noticed that the caulking is coming up around the toilet and other areas in the bathroom when I clean the floor. The caulking does not do well with moisture and is dwindling away each time clean. I am contacting the provider today to see what else can be done.

Update: 3. (9/29/14). I had a plumbing company check the tiles around the toilet. There was water under the tiles almost up
To the vanity. As I said above the grout (caulking) is coming out. The toilet had to be pulled & work done around the seals. Also there were broken tiles and the toilet had to be made level.
The tile is uneven around the toilet as well as the entrance to the bedroom door. I talked to the owner Marcy after the previous update
On 9/22/14 and when I told her I would like to have a $1000 for all the extra expenses & convenience we have had with this project, all she will do is tell me that she will have someone to come out & take care of it. This was all before the expense I had yesterday. I do
Not want her crew to fix anything in my home again. I wish I had never had Midwest Luxury Bath to do anything. I had hoped for a custom bath, which of course is not the case. I told the office lady Tia that the owner could come out & look to see what it looked like but
I would not allow them to do the work.

"Every effort was made to satisfy the (removed member name). There were several products that they wanted that were unattainable (Toto toilet that had been pulled out of production due to poor flushing issues.) This has been a summer of difficult supply issues, and we worked as best we could to work through theses issues. This was a one bathroom home with one of the client's being very ill in the middle of it all and us trying to keep them in a working bathroom at all times. (removed member name) is very particular and we stayed with the project until she said she was happy with it. Sorry to see such a bad review, however, I feel that we did all that we could to make this client happy. Sincerely, Marcy DeShong."

"The property where the work was completed is one of the member rentals. We do provide cleanning and care instructions to all our customers at the time of completion of the work and they are also available on our web page. Apparently the tentes had change and the new tentes did not receive the care instructions and in turn used a drain cleaner and other chemicals which were not to be used causing the liner to crack. Due to chemicals being used that were on the "don't use" list of the care instructions the warranty was voided. Tring to help the member through this unfortunate incident we offered to replace the liner at cost. Since the issue was not something we had control of we felt providing the materails and labor at no profit to us was reasonable. We could not pay for a mistake that we had no control of and could of been avoided. But did offer a reasonable solution."

I have had work done in the past by Midwest and was then very pleased. This time my experience was different. While the workmanship was again excellent, I was not satisfied as to price and how the order was discussed with me beforehand. I ended up paying more than I did in the past for a shower installation, and I received much less. Brian never asked if I wanted the ceiling panel installed; in the past I have had a shower and tub/shower replaced, and both times the ceiling panel was included. It was only after the workman completed his work that I realized there was no ceiling panel. I had assumed this would be installed. I received a voice mail from Brian that for over $200 more I could have the ceiling panel added. As I had already paid more than last time, this was out of the question. Brian did ask if I wanted a built in shelf, which I had ordered for the previous shower, but as that would have added $70 to the cost, I declined. I would not call them again.

GENERALLY, THE FINAL PRODUCT WAS GOOD. THEY STARTED A WEEK LATE AND IT TOOK TWICE AS LONG AS PROMISED, (FOUR WEEKS INSTEAD OF TWO). THE CLAW-FOOT TUB WAS REASSEMBLED INCORRECTLY, AND NOW WE HAVE A PERMANENT STACK OF SIX WASHERS UNDER ONE OF THE FEET TO BALANCE IT OUT. THEY MADE A MISTAKE AND THREW OUT THE 99-YEAR-OLD TOILET THEY HAD AGREED TO KEEP. THE SALES REP ADMITTED THE MISTAKE TO OUR FACE AND OVER THE PHONE. LATER, THE OWNER TOLD US THAT HE SAID WE NEVER MENTIONED IT, AND SHE REFUSED TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER OUR DISCUSSIONS. IN THE END, WE WERE ROBBED OF THE ORIGINAL TOILET FOR THE HOUSE, AN IRREPLACEABLE ANTIQUE, AND TREATED AS THOUGH SOME CASH BACK WAS GOING TO SUFFICE. I DON'T TRUST THEM AND DON'T RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO, EITHER. ALSO, WARRANTY WORK WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DELAYED IN RESPONSE, (MORE THAN 2 MONTHS).

IT WAS A REMARKABLE IMPROVEMENT. THE GENTLEMEN THAT WERE IN OUR HOME FOR SEVERAL WEEKS WERE THE KIND OF PEOPLE YOU WANT AROUND. THEY WERE CAREFUL ABOUT COVERING THINGS AND REMOVING THINGS. THEY LEFT A TIDY WORK AREA EVERY DAY. THEY WERE ALWAYS HERE AT THEIR APPOINTED TIME. THEY FINISHED THE PROJECT WITHIN THE TIME FRAME THEY GAVE IN THE ESTIMATE. THEY NEVER TOLD US WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE PROJECT WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO LAST THREE DAYS AND NOW THE TUB HAS A LEAK AND HAS RUINED OUR CARPET AND THE CEILING IN OUR LAUNDRY ROOM DOWNSTAIRS. THEY WERE CARELESS! THE FIRST GUY WAS RUDE AND NEVER KEPT HIS WORD. I HAD OTHER BIDS LOWER, BUT I THOUGHT THEY WOULD DO A GOOD JOB BECAUSE THEY WERE ON ANGIE'S LIST.

THEY TOLD US THE WORK WOULD BE DONE IN TEN DAYS. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE AUGUST 1ST AND IT WASN'T COMPLETED UNTIL OCTOBER 30TH. THEY HAD LACK OF COMMUNICATION, BECAUSE THE OWNER THOUGHT ON AT LEAST 6 OCCASIONS THAT THE WORK WAS DONE AND IT WASN'T. THEY CUT ALL THE WOOD, PIPING, ETC IN MY HOUSE AND THEY SHOULD'VE DONE IT IN THE GARAGE. MY THREE CHILDREN HAVE ALLERGIES, AND THE DOG HAD LUNG CANCER. IN THE END, WE ASKED FOR A CREDIT FOR THE TILE THAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO INSTALL BUT DIDN'T BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T FIT, AND THE SOAP DISHES THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO BE INSET INTO THE WALL, BUT THEY FORGOT ABOUT THOSE, SO WE DIDN'T USE THEM. WE DIDN'T GET THE REFUND AT FIRST, BUT THEN WHEN WE FINALLY GOT THE REFUND, THEY CHARGED US A RESTOCKING FEE. THEY TOLD US THE REASON FOR THE HOLD UP WAS THEY WERE WAITING ON A SHOWER DOOR AND THEY HAD TO WAIT FOR THE TILE WORK TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE THEY COULD INSTALL IT, BUT THE TILE WORK WAS COMPLETED AUGUST 2ND. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM.
