I got an estimate for $3000 and he came out to do it for six or seven hundred dollars and he did a good job.

He was very good and he did everything he said he would do. He was reasonable and was able to about anything we needed them to do. They did very well all around. We've used them several times.

They did a great job. It took several visits as there were several steps that had to be completed and right before the final texturing match could be made. They did a great job containing the dust during that part of the project. It took several visits so plan for the time they need, although not for long periods. Along the way they gave me several hints on the painting I was planning to do when they were finished (although they would have done that also). They did a great job and we were very pleased!

I spent some time researching contractors for this big job because I was unsure about how I wanted it handled. This house is old and part of its charm is the plaster with all of its imperfections. I also wasn't up for all the mess that would come with replacing the plaster. After 5 minutes with Bruce on the phone, I was confident I had found the right contractor for the job.
His team was helpful in explaining their technique and quick to jump in on the job. In one day, they had furred both ceilings with metal strips and had new drywall installed. It was mudded, sanded and crown molding installed over the next two weeks as they had availability and I had time to paint the ceilings. :)
I appreciated their communication and willingness to work with me throughout the process--and still being able to live in my tiny house during the process. :) I am happy with the result. :)

Bruce's crew did a fabulous job. Our ceilings are beautiful. These gentlemen are polite and considerate, very nice to work with.
In our first call, when I described the long cracks all along the plaster ceilings in several rooms of our ancient home, Bruce told me my options: take out the old plaster and replace--the most dirty, lengthy and expensive option, OR put drywall over the plaster, bolt it in good (to last another 100 years) and finish. Of course, I took the easy way out. It is still a somewhat lengthy process, and messy (dust!), but I can imagine it would have been a nightmare to do it the old-fashioned way. The new ceilings are beautiful--perfect.
Process goes something like this? a guy or two come in and take down all the moulding. Measuring and cutting the drywall, then installing. Another guy comes to fill in all the holes and skim coat. Comes back in another day or two to put another skim coat on. Then in another day or two someone buffs it all. Then YOU prime and paint, and the first guy comes back to put the moulding back in place.
The men put up plastic to contain as much dust as possible, and protect furniture, artwork, etc. But it is inevitable that a good amount of fine white dust will float around your house in the coming days. Worth it though!
Considering the amount of work it took to complete the job, and the expertise of the crew, it was an excellent value.

PLASTER AND DRYWALL WORK:
All of the plaster areas were meticulously finished to match the surrounding areas. The formal rooms of this home have a rough stucco finish ? this is where the quality of the work really shined. Once the primer and paint went up ? the repaired areas all but disappeared.
Barth Electric was adding some lights that required some holes to be placed in the plaster walls and ceiling in order to run wires. Tom from Barth and Bruce Musselman coordinated what was happening and when. Bruce?s crew moved in directly after wire runs were done and had all but the finishing work done the very next day. These guys have serious experience and know how to work as a team.
DOORS & CASING WITH BACKBAND
Hanging doors in a house built in 1919 is not your typical walk in the park. Bruce?s carpenter (Sandy) did an outstanding job. The fit and finish of the work is incredible.
