The contractor used a lawn tractor mounted aerator which was too heavy for the soft soil, resulting in ruts and turn marks in the yard. I'll hire a service that uses a walk-behind aerator next time.

Very satisfactory.  The owner and workmen were quick, efficient, and clean and did more than necessary, even helped start a balky tiller.  Price not applicable because it was part of a Big Deal.

The people didn't have exactly the right equipment. Instead of one of those walk behind aerators they brought in one that you pull behind a tractor and tried to put enough wait on it to do the job. Average results. It would not be the kind of company I would hire if I knew about that. The price seemed reasonable knowing the going prices at that time, however it was commensurate to what I got. They did schedule and show up when they said. My impression was that they had a bunch of yards to do and they had to get them done.

I was very pleased. They were professional, and they did what they said they were going to do. Their punctuality and scheduling were good.

Jason was awesome from the very beginning. He promptly called me after I sent my email and was at my house to provide an estimate one day later. He is very professional and wants to know his customers. I learned so much from Jason the first time I met him. I told him what I was looking to do and what my budget was. He listened to what I wanted and worked within my budget. He worked up the estimate in detail and patiently waited for me to make a decision. He gave me the best quote out of four and I felt very comfortable with him. Once I chose him as my contractor he was ready to begin. We ran into a few snags waiting on my HOA and the county to provide him approval but Jason did everything he could do to get it done quickly. Once we had all the approvals he was on the job that Monday. His men worked very very hard each day into the evening. They cleaned up every evening so my house still looked presentable. We had bad weather one day and ran into a little issue with the material on the first day but they pretty much completed a 10x15 brick paver patio, 15 ft retaining wall, grassy area for my dog, replanted two trees and placed erosion blankets on the remaining of the lawn in about 3 days. It was incredible. Jason was at my home each day with the guys. They did an amazing job! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new patio and grass area. I cannot stop smiling every time I walk out back and see my new back yard. Jason gave me a back yard that I can actually use and enjoy now. I cannot wait for summer to get here to start using it. The quality of work and presentation is more than I could have ever asked for. Thank you Jason!!! You will not go wrong choosing Jason as your landscape/hardscape contractor. I will be using Jason over and over again until my front and back yard are complete. My neighbors cannot comment enough on how beautiful my patio and back yard look now. It went from not useful and boring to amazingly beautiful where I want to be every day!

Called to get an estimate of the work to be performed. Prompt callback and they estimated the job visually the next day. The work was performed a day after that. The results were absolutely fantastic. The cost was less than other estimates and even less than their original quote, a testament to the integrity and honesty of the company. The timeliness was super, as this was during the peak Fall leaf season and was not booked weeks in advance. Other companies were generally many weeks out to perform the work and considerably more expensive. NFC works by phone and email and is very available. I cannot say enough about the concern NFC has for their customer's satisfaction, and will do what ever it takes to make sure that it is achieved. It was a refreshing pleasure to find a company that strives to provide great service. Their equipment and techniques are very state-of-the-art and we will be using them again for all our lawn care needs.

Got here 2 days earlier than scheduled. I had not had a chance to mark my irrigation system. I dont think it was damaged but that remains to be seen. Did the work while I was at work. No call that they were coming early. Looked like they did a very good job.

They put in 8 zones in my yard. They were really good. They were really good to deal with. We had one estimate before using their services which was much lower and we felt very comfortable with them. They were polite and explained everything that they were doing. We didn?t have any problems. There are different zones and every zone has double cover. The sprinkler heads release the water at different intervals. So we felt good about that. We mostly dealt with Gill who was one of the owners and he was really easy to deal with. He gave us his cell phone number in case if we had any problems. We haven?t had any problems yet. So everything worked out very well. It took them 2 days to do the job. They basically put little trenches in the yard and then they covered that up. We did have to re-seed over those trenches, but it was definitely worth it. There is a box in the garage that has all the features. They had to drill a little hole through the brick to get through into the garage and also drilled through the basement to get into the water line. They had to come into the house to do that in order to get to the basement.

I called Jason for quotes on putting in a stone patio and walkway behind my house, mulching my flower beds and doing some simple landscaping. I also asked him about treating my grass to help fill in bare spots and some weeded areas. He came by and gave me an estimate and was much less than I expected for this type of work. I would recommend him to anyone.

It went OK until the last job. He was supposed to install some Spruce trees. He did a decent job on the various things I had him do up until then but was rarely punctual. I've had to re-call him to remind him to do jobs he said he would do. I often had to call him to find out when or he was coming if at all. He always says he is busy as an excuse and always seemed too busy for me. He then tells me that he was going to come that night after I called him. Saturday he was going to deliver 2 Dwarf spruce trees and plant them. He didn't tell me when he was coming. He rarely commits to a time. I tried to wait for him all morning and then left for a few hours to spend time with my kids. When I returned the spruce were against the hot brick wall uninstalled and still potted. I understand he probably wanted to coordinate placement but he said his crew knocked on my door but no one answered. He didn't bother to call. I could have rushed back to meet him. So Saturday, Sunday, and Monday go by and still no word from him. I finally call on Monday late evening, and he says they knocked and no one answered. So I guess that means until I call back nothing gets done or communicated. Miscommunication. fine. But then he tries to say he's got personal things going on and I didn't answer the door (again). I'm not sure if that's is my problem but if you commit to a day stick to it. If you have to reschedule, call me and let me know. We all have unforeseen problems. Professional common courtesy is to call. not leave potted trees against a hot brick wall for 3 days in 85+ degree heat. So after arguing on the phone, he says "you know forget it, I'll come pick up the trees!" and hangs up on me. My friends who have used him warned me way before hand not to use but I thought I would give him a chance since he seemed knowledgeable enough. By the way, I had him install 2 Forsythia bushes and 3 Burkwood Viburnum at $70 each. they were poor quality, mishandled with broken branches all around, and half the size he said he would get. They didn't have the sizes he wanted. I understand but the ones he ended up getting were certainly no prizes. I paid $50 each 2' tall Viburnums instead. I've seen 5' tall at Altum's at a retail price of $76. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY. He will try to smooth talk you telling you that he has 15 years of experience yada yada yada. His biggest issues are punctuality and reliability. If you need both look elsewhere.
Response from Nature's First Choice
"I just want to tell my side of the story on this customer. He is very demanding and I think he needs a fulltime yard boy not a landscaper. I am not oncall 24 hours a day. He continously calls on the weekends and even Sundays wanting responces.Which is fine as long as I am not busy. We do not work weekends unless it is a appointment set with me. On Saturday May 22nd. We were to be at his house to install 2 Dwarf Alberta Spruce trees, He special ordered them and they were not in stock. We went to his house at 11 am and he was not there. I was out of town at my nephews graduation and not working at all that weekend, He was to meet my guys there in the am because to so many issues with placement of other things. My men rang and knocked on his door for 15 mins. He was not home. They left the trees in the beds which has irriagation over the weekened to be installed on Monday evening. I did not call him that weekend because I had personal things with my family. I did not call him Monday out of respect knowing he would be at work. I was going to call him at 6 pm Monday to let him know that we would be there that night to install them. I got a call from a very angry customer yelling at me why I didn't install his trees. I tried to work it out and all I got is that it isn't my problem from him. Really I think this was all very uncalled for. If you are to be at your house for the guys how is this my fault, If you look at his comments we were there and he wasn't. I have been thru many problems with him in the past to many to list. I just wanted to be professional and part ways. I told him that I would pick the trees up and we would not be working for him anymore. The cost of the project was less than $400.00 not $3000.00. Now I have trees that I paid for and did not charge him even though he special ordered them. Also, I was hired due to problems from other landscapers, He is never happy and complains about the quality of plants that i get from the nicest quality growers in Indiana. I am a landscaper not a yard boy. We have many projects working at one time. We also have a schedule that you have to be on to get work completed. The facts are from my end I was going to tell him more than once we are not going to work for him due to his demands and the way he speaks to me. This company gives the ultimate respect if you respect us. That is the bottom line. We have a list of several happy people and sometimes it is just best to move on when the relationship is not working, This customer has not been taken for money and we did not try to blow him off. I was the only person loosing money here. If we were so bad why did we work for him for a year and also. why did his nieghbor have us start working for her?? We have a list of refererences that will tell you we are great people and responsive to calls. Yelling at a business owner isn't called for when it is your fault you were not home."

I found Nature's First Choices phone number in the yellow pages about six years ago. I have been using them every since for all of my lawn care needs. In the winter I use them for plowing my drive and shoveling my sidewalks. In the Fall I hire them for leaf removal.

WE NEEDED THIS JOB DONE IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, DURING THE BUSY SEASON. I HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING A CO. THAT COULD MEET OUR TIMELINE, HOWEVER I WAS ABLE TO GET 3 QUOTES. I SELECTED NFC BECAUSE I FELT CONFIDENT WITH THE APPROACH TO SOLVE OUR WEED PROBLEM AND ABILITY TO MEET OUR DEADLINE. THE SOLUTION TO OUR WEED PROBLEM WAS: USE A SELECTIVE KILL WEED SPRAY, APPLY PRE-EMERGINENT TO PREVENT FUTURE WEEDS (DO 4 X YEAR) AND PULL EXISTING WEEDS. EVERYONE ELSE WAS JUST GOING TO PULL WEEDS. JASON RECOMMENDED SPREADING A NATURALLY DYED MULCH ONTOP OF OUR EXISTING MULCH. IT IS A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT LOOKS NICE LONG AFTER IT'S LAYED. ANOTHER COMPANY HAD RECOMMENDED LAYING 15-25 YARDS OF MULCH IN THE BACKYARD ALONE. NFC, WAS ABLE TO GET THE 10 YARDS SPREAD, NOT ONLY IN OUR LARGE BACK GARDEN, BUT IN OUR REMAINING SIX BEDS IN THE FRONT AND SIDE YARD! I KNOW JASON HAD TO JUGGLE THINGS AROUND TO MEET OUR DEADLINE. THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE AND WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS.
