They were great, they realized that they misjudged the amount of counter space I needed and they called to let me know the price would be changed. Then I had a friend install the sink so I saved costs there and we took out my own countertops. They came in and installed the new countertop. They did a great job, explained everything to me and it was a great experience.
The problem was that Home Depot sent a subcontractor to install the tile that if I hadn't been there, they would have cut corners. The first thing I asked the subcontractor was if they were going apply mortar before they put the backer board down. They said it didn't need it since they were using screws. The directions on the backer board clearly stated to apply mortar 1st and then screws. The other issue was that we were sold a chemical that was to be mixed with the grout to make it stain resistant. When they were getting ready to leave, I noticed that they hadn't used the chemical. I asked why, and they stated that we were to apply it after a day or so on top of the grout. I then showed them that the directions clearly stated that it was to be mixed with the grout. I then informed them that I wasn't going to sign off that they had completed the installation. They then called Home Depot, and said Home Depot would be calling us. When they did, they agreed that the chemical was to be added with the grout. They got a hold of the subcontractor and had them come back and remove the grout and re-install it properly.
It appears that Home Depot needs to do a better job of training and supervising their subcontractors.
I still have confidence in Home Depot, as a bad subcontractor to me doesn't mean the Noblesville location or Home Depot Corporation is bad.
The only complaint we have with this store, is that when you call them, it is very frustrating to get through to the department you want.
