I did find a few cigarette butts on the ground that they failed to clean up. Some of the gutter guards weren't replaced properly, but when brought to the owner's attention, he and several workers came back to correct the problem.
The roof comes with a 50-year replacement warranty from the manufacturer. I don't think I'll ever have to roof this house again in my lifetime.
We had gotten 3 estimates for the roofing job. This was the lowest estimate, and they did a fantastic job.
They did a good, clean job. I found very little debris in my yard after they cleaned up. The roofers damaged one piece of trim on the house and Authentic happily replaced it for me.
I like that they are local and not storm-chasers. With something as important as your roof, it's important to have locally accountable people.
A very solid contractor.
"I am struggling a bit with how to best respond to this review. We replaced this roof in September of 2011 (not November as noted in the review), over two years ago. When you look at the grammar and spelling, combined with the length of time since the roof was built, I can't help but wonder if the person writing this report was inebriated and decided to do something spiteful. First off, there was ZERO discussion about ventilation. We simply replaced the existing vents. I can prove this by showing the scope of work signed by [member name removed]. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rose Hulman, I can easily calculate ventilation requirements when requested. This roof was 46 squares and very steep. To my best recollection, it only took 3 days. Since I know nothing about the other roof, and therefore cannot compare, I cannot draw a conclusion. [member name removed] seems to have conveniently forgotten that we agreed to put additional ice & water shield under and around the dormers on the front of his house instead of on the eaves above the gutters. That was the more sensible thing to do, it required substantially more ice & water shield which we installed at no additional charge. We used synthetic felt, not vinyl paper. I was at the job site every day and at no time did [member name removed] discuss any problems with me. The fact is, [member name removed] left to go to work each day and spent very little time at the job site. I also remember doing a walk through with [member name removed] and I believe, his neighbor, when the job was complete. He got out his second story ladder to check if the shingles had been installed properly along the back slope eave (overhung the gutter the correct amount). I remember he and his neighbor both saying everything was correct. At the time the roof was completed, [member name removed] said he was happy with the work. He did call once with a problem, we responded the same day. He never contacted us again. Finding the source of a leak around a chimney often takes several attempts. Had [member name removed] contacted us, we would have come out until we fixed the problem. I find it strange that without having any further problems, [member name removed] decides to file a long winded poor report in garbled English over two years after the work was done. I also find it strange that [member name removed] gave us a C rating on price when we did the work for exactly what the insurance paid (as he admitted in the report), not a penny more. That's exactly what we agreed to do upfront when we signed the contract, I'm not sure how the price gets any better than that. Here's the bottom line. We did everything we promised to do for [member name removed] when we signed the contract. Without exception. In fact, we went past what we promised. We worked with his insurance company to get the roof approved for replacement with insurance funding the work. We showed up and started work the exact day we promised. We provided more value than we originally signed up for in the roof replacement. We were paid exactly what was quoted, not a single penny more. When we were done, [member name removed] stated to me (I'm the Owner) and our Sales Manager that he was satisfied with the work. When a problem did arise, we came out the very same day."
I called Mark and he was very responsive and communication was great all along the project. He helped me submit the claim to my insurance company, he met with my insurance adjuster, he gave him his opinion, he showed him the home inspector's report (that I got from a potental buyer that had walked away) and my insurance adjuster approved to replace the roof instead of just doing the repairs. I was very happy because I had switched insurance a couple months before and I had already tried to get the roof replaced because of bad weather but my claim had been declined.
Mark scheduled the work quickly and the job was done in 3 days. The crew cleaned up after them.
Mark explained to me how payment worked through the insurance company and also the mortgage company, and I really appreciated that. They wrote me checks and I wrote checks to Authentic Restoration, Mark came to pick them up at my house.
Mark also recommended me another contractor to do other work inside my house.
In a nutshell: great service and no issue whatsoever. I would highly recommend.
On the scheduled day, materials were delivered early in the morning. About an hour later the crew arrived and began work. I have many plants and shrubs around the house, but things were covered and care was taken to not damage anything as the old roof came off. During the morning Mark stopped by to see if I had any additional questions or concerns. When the job was finished at the end of the day, the cleanup was nothing short of fabulous. Other than a fantastic looking roof, you would never have known anyone had been here. No damage, no mess, nothing left behind.
The professionalism of Mark and his employees is second to none. I can't imagine a re roof going any smoother than what I have experienced. The responsiveness to our contacts and questions has been exceptional. Everything happened as scheduled with no unpleasant surprises.
I would not hesitate to use this company again.
