Met with Mark a few times to obtain quote and answer our questions. Also he is Very responsivve to our emails and texts. Project went smoothly.  He came back to re-adjust a rain sensor on our roof for our irrigation system.  His crew worked very hard but as quiet as possible.  Clean-up of materials, nails, etc, done very well.

Very professional and compassionate company from start to finish. As a recent widow, this task seemed daunting....my husband took care of these issues and without him I didn't know where to begin. It all started with a leak in the upstairs hallway ceiling caused from damage to the roof during a wind and hail storm. I went to Angie's list and pick Authentic Restoration based on their reviews and called them. Mark A. came and did a thorough assessment of my roof and determined the damage....quite extensive. He worked closely with the insurance adjuster. He was very reassuring that everything would go well and it did. The crew were very hard working, neat, polite and careful not to injury my flowers and shurbs. Work on the gutters and coopala went well also. I am very relieved to have this project completed and appreciate the kindness and patience of all involved. Thank you.

We contacted Authentic Restoration (as well as a couple other roofers) based on Angie's List ratings.  Mark Craney came to the house, gave us an estimate on a new roof.  He answered all my husband's questions.  Originally date to do the installation was postponed two days due to weather (snow in April!).  Crew arrived before 8AM on actual day, and they were able to complete the job in one long day instead of the estimated 2-2/12 days we'd been told initially.  During the tear down, tarps were placed on the ground and on our deck to catch the old shingles.  It was a breezy day, and some of the packaging was blowing around, but it was all cleaned up before the crew left.  We only found a few nails left on the ground, something we'd been warned of in advance.
I did find a few cigarette butts on the ground that they failed to clean up.  Some of the gutter guards weren't replaced properly, but when brought to the owner's attention, he and several workers came back to correct the problem.
The roof comes with a 50-year replacement warranty from the manufacturer.  I don't think I'll ever have to roof this house again in my lifetime.
We had gotten 3 estimates for the roofing job.  This was the lowest estimate, and they did a fantastic job.

I'm a bit tardy in my review, but wanted to make sure to note that Authentic did a great job for me.  They were very helpful and patient dealing with my insurance company.  An initial adjuster wanted to replace only pieces of the roof and Authentic documented why a full re-roof was appropriate.
They did a good, clean job.  I found very little debris in my yard after they cleaned up.  The roofers damaged one piece of trim on the house and Authentic happily replaced it for me.
I like that they are local and not storm-chasers.  With something as important as your roof, it's important to have locally accountable people.
A very solid contractor.

Where to start?  My roof needed to be replaced due to storm damage.  My insurance was paying for the new roof and the sales manager walked me through the filing.  The sale manger was polite and professional.  Turned me over to the sales person and again very polite and professional.  I asked several things about ventilation for the roof and at the time seemed like they knew what they were doing.  After the new roof was installed I discussed several things with other roofers in the neighborhood and he informed me that the ventilation would need to be calculated.  So he did and informed me I have to much ventilation vents, which would cause stagnate air in the attic. That was one problem #1 - They just added vent holes without calculating.  #2 It took them 5 days to install a new roof.  I just installed a new roof on another home I purchased and this team took 2 days.  You make the final conclusion.  #3 We signed the contract / agreement to install ice and water shield on all gutter lines and valleys.  When the team started to install the felt paper (They did you the vinyl felt paper versus the 15# or 30# felt paper) they installed on the back side and side of my roof and did not lay ice & water shield.  I explained to the team that the Ice & water shield was to be laid on all gutter lines and valleys.  The next day they started working again and again they did not install the ice & water shield.  At this time they started installing shingles.  I stopped them and called the sales person and manager.  Finally the team understood and started installing the ice & water shield but did not include the back or side.  I accepted the uninstalled Shield in the back and side.  If I did not watch what they were doing, I would be paying for something that never went down and would never know until ice built up.  #4  When they were laying the shingles I notices the shingles where not even close to being straight.  I explained to the sales person the uneven shingles and he instructed the team to remove the shingles and correct the line.  Because of these issues, I continued to inspect the roof from the ground.  It?s not over.  #5  After they completed the roof and all bills were paid, which was a separate issue, I was working in my Attic that same month and found 2 leak in the roof.  One leak was at the furnace stack where they left a nail hole from the old roof visible to the elements.  Leaked all over the insulation but luckily did not penetrate the ceiling.  The 2nd leak was by the chimney. and did leak on the ceiling.  Luckily the ceiling was not fixed from the storm damage.  I contacted the sales person and they did show-up the same day and put caulk over the furnace stack.  Now every 3-5 years will have to continue to maintain that caulk issue.  The Chimney leak they never identified the cause and just added additional caulk to the flashing.  After a hard rain it continued to leak and so I was able to identify the leak and crawled on the roof and fixed it myself.  This last issue was very disturbing and would reconsider using this company.  In regard to the 2nd house roof, no issues with the other company and with the hard rain we recently experienced, I can say there were no leaks.  I would use the other company again.
Response from Authentic Restoration
"I am struggling a bit with how to best respond to this review. We replaced this roof in September of 2011 (not November as noted in the review), over two years ago. When you look at the grammar and spelling, combined with the length of time since the roof was built, I can't help but wonder if the person writing this report was inebriated and decided to do something spiteful. First off, there was ZERO discussion about ventilation. We simply replaced the existing vents. I can prove this by showing the scope of work signed by [member name removed]. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rose Hulman, I can easily calculate ventilation requirements when requested. This roof was 46 squares and very steep. To my best recollection, it only took 3 days. Since I know nothing about the other roof, and therefore cannot compare, I cannot draw a conclusion. [member name removed] seems to have conveniently forgotten that we agreed to put additional ice & water shield under and around the dormers on the front of his house instead of on the eaves above the gutters. That was the more sensible thing to do, it required substantially more ice & water shield which we installed at no additional charge. We used synthetic felt, not vinyl paper. I was at the job site every day and at no time did [member name removed] discuss any problems with me. The fact is, [member name removed] left to go to work each day and spent very little time at the job site. I also remember doing a walk through with [member name removed] and I believe, his neighbor, when the job was complete. He got out his second story ladder to check if the shingles had been installed properly along the back slope eave (overhung the gutter the correct amount). I remember he and his neighbor both saying everything was correct. At the time the roof was completed, [member name removed] said he was happy with the work. He did call once with a problem, we responded the same day. He never contacted us again. Finding the source of a leak around a chimney often takes several attempts. Had [member name removed] contacted us, we would have come out until we fixed the problem. I find it strange that without having any further problems, [member name removed] decides to file a long winded poor report in garbled English over two years after the work was done. I also find it strange that [member name removed] gave us a C rating on price when we did the work for exactly what the insurance paid (as he admitted in the report), not a penny more. That's exactly what we agreed to do upfront when we signed the contract, I'm not sure how the price gets any better than that. Here's the bottom line. We did everything we promised to do for [member name removed] when we signed the contract. Without exception. In fact, we went past what we promised. We worked with his insurance company to get the roof approved for replacement with insurance funding the work. We showed up and started work the exact day we promised. We provided more value than we originally signed up for in the roof replacement. We were paid exactly what was quoted, not a single penny more. When we were done, [member name removed] stated to me (I'm the Owner) and our Sales Manager that he was satisfied with the work. When a problem did arise, we came out the very same day."

My house was for sale and I had a lot of feedback about the roof that was 22 years old. They were a few repairs needed but I was mostly interested in getting a new roof.
I called Mark and he was very responsive and communication was great all along the project. He helped me submit the claim to my insurance company, he met with my insurance adjuster, he gave him his opinion, he showed him the home inspector's report (that I got from a potental buyer that had walked away) and my insurance adjuster approved to replace the roof instead of just doing the repairs. I was very happy because I had switched insurance a couple months before and I had already tried to get the roof replaced because of bad weather but my claim had been declined.
Mark scheduled the work quickly and the job was done in 3 days. The crew cleaned up after them.
Mark explained to me how payment worked through the insurance company and also the mortgage company, and I really appreciated that. They wrote me checks and I wrote checks to Authentic Restoration, Mark came to pick them up at my house.
Mark also recommended me another contractor to do other work inside my house.
In a nutshell: great service and no issue whatsoever. I would highly recommend.

We were having difficulty finding a company to repair our roof after the hail storm earlier this year, so we looked closer to home and fortunately found Authentic Restoration (AR). From the start it was apparent that the priority with AR is a top-notch job and customer satisfaction rather than a quick sale. We had our roof replaced while we were on vacation and came home to a house that looked better than before the storm. In addition to state of the art roof shingles, AR used high quality, robust attic fan vents and plumbing vent pipe collars. Mark Atarian the Project Manager was awesome - easy to work with, knowledgeable, professional - definitely felt like he was our advocate. If we need our roof replaced in the future we'll without a doubt be calling AR. Thank you AR for repairing our home.

We contacted Mark Craney owner of Authentic Restoration found on Angieslist, to repair our roof.  Both Mark and his staff are professional, prompt, and had good communications.  The roofers kept the area clean of nails and old shingles.  His estimate was very reasonable and I would certainly consider his business in the future.

It went very well.  Roof looks great, clean-up was exceptional.  The work was completed ahead of schedule and in less time that promised.  We were flexible as to when the work was to start, but our flexibility wasn't required because of the great communication regarding the start date and the status of the work while we were away from the home.  The estimating/quoting process was punctual and timely.  Communication of scheduling, billing was great.  No issues at al using Authentic Restoration LLC.

Mark (and crew) inspected roof and roof line, and assured I did not have any physical damage.  He was able to help identify a potential gutter/drainage problem and even provided a preventative measure by added a drip edge as a favor (free!.)  He was able to offer a ton of education about potential issues to watch for while water damage was being repaired inside the home.

Mark came to the house to give estimate on replacing roof.  He answered all our questions and provided information about things we didn't know to ask.  Left us with his estimate with no pressure to 'decide now'.  Though his company was not the cheapest of the three bids we received, we decided to go with Authentic Restoration because of Marks helpfulness and thorough, straight forward answers.  We had no problem with responsiveness to our phone calls or questions.  In trying to determine which shingle would look best on our house, we asked for houses in the area we could see the three different style shingles we were considering.  That same day we were provided with locations to view, which was very helpful in our decision.
On the scheduled day, materials were delivered early in the morning.  About an hour later the crew arrived and began work.   I have many plants and shrubs around the house, but things were covered and care was taken to not damage anything as the old roof came off.  During the morning Mark stopped by to see if I had any additional questions or concerns.  When the job was finished at the end of the day, the cleanup was nothing short of fabulous.  Other than a fantastic looking roof,  you would never have known anyone had been here.  No damage, no mess, nothing left behind.
The professionalism of Mark and his employees is second to none.  I can't imagine a re roof going any smoother than what I have experienced.  The responsiveness  to our contacts and questions has been exceptional.  Everything happened as scheduled with no unpleasant surprises.
I would not hesitate to use this company again.
