Dropped truck off for services. Work done on time. When picking up I notices there was a charge for a front end inspection before they aligned the truck. I was not aware they charged this and never had a company charge for an inspection if they were doing the alignment. Maybe that is why they have a lower price on the alignment if they are going to tack on an extra $20.00 for the inspection. I mentioned to the clerk, I have never been charged for an inspection before an alignment. He would not budge in reducing the price.
I paid the total and was not satisfied and told that to the cashier.
GREAT Thing.
The manager called me within 10 min. of leaving and said since I had the tires rotated and balanced he would refund the front end inspection fee. He sen me the check within 5 days.
Bad experience near the end but they made it right.
Note to others:
Ask Menke's about any hidden inspection cost before you drop off your vehicle.
They made it right in the end. I will use them again. Just know to ask questions up front
"We really appreciate you kind response and are happy that you were pleased with our service. In response to the price being a little higher-we have always felt it's in our customers best interest to use only quality manufacturers recommended parts, rather than the cheaper ones, and often not made as well. We always try to find the best price for the best parts. We feel the same with the fluids we use-always staying with the manufacturer recommended rather than the bargain price fluids. I hope this helps and if ever you have any pricing concerns, just ask us and we'll show you the difference. Customer service and quality repairs are our #1 goal-please don't ever hesitate to let us know your concerns. We know we're blessed to have the opportunity to work for you."
"Thank you so much for taking the time to review. We truly appreciate the opportunity to work for you. If ever you have any concerns, don't hesitate to let us know. We really appreciate the opportunity to work for you!"

Several months ago, while still living in Colorado, my wife and I purchased a used 2007 Suburban. Soon thereafter, we started having difficulties. I would love to provide a review of THAT car dealer, but Angie's List says we can't because we're in a different location, now. Suffice it to say, they knew of the existing problem, misled us and even covered up a much larger issue.
However, after multiple attempts to solve the problem, we had to move back to Evansville. Within a month of arriving, the Check Engine light came on and the truck went into low-power mode. After contacting Angie's List to check on area mechanics, we found that Menke's came as both the highest rated and with the best recommendations.
We limped in to Menke's the next Monday morning. If you've never been to their shop, be ready for a very pleasant surprise. First, the work area is SPOTLESS. I've been to some very high-end garages. I've even been to some of the top personalities in NASCAR and never have I seen an auto repair shop as clean as Menke's. This is not only true for the reception area, but for the shop floor, itself. I felt like I was in the shop of a true automotive enthusiast who was just as proud of his garage as he was of his show cars.
We had called ahead to schedule an appointment, so the initial interview was short and professional and was performed by Joe Wiedrich, the Service Manager, himself. We were told to expect an hour's wait. With another shop, this means you'd have to sit in one of those plastic and metal chairs reminiscent of high-school functions and about as comfortable as sitting on a metal bench.
Not so for Menke's. We were invited into the back room which has to be the most comfortable waiting room I have ever seen, in any industry. We sat on reclining couches and were invited to use their free WiFi.
Then came the dreaded wait. If you've ever had a major problem with an expensive vehicle, you understand what I mean. We'd had diagnostics done a week earlier, but honestly seldom trust a dealer after having been taken in twice before on other vehicles.
About an hour later, Joe came in with the verdict. We had a choice: Either perform exploratory "surgery" or just commit to buying a new engine. He ran several options by us and was EXTREMELY patient with our incessant questions. The problem was that there was no compression in two of the cylinders and frozen intake valves. It was possible that the damage stopped there, but the suspicion was that it ran deeper. My choice was to have them spend more shop hours digging down into the engine in the hopes that the damage didn't go deeper, or just have an engine replaced.
After awhile, it became obvious that it would just be the most beneficial route to get a new engine. The vehicle already had over 130,000 miles on it and my wife and I made the decision to just get a new Jasper engine and not have to worry about other parts going in the near future.
But, therein lay the problem. . .we had just moved from Colorado to Indiana. Funds were extremely tight and the $7500 quoted was not something we would be able to lay our hands on by the end of the week. We explained our situation to Joe who simply told us to wait a minute and he walked out of the room.
A few moments later, he walked back in and handed us a set of keys.
Not to our own vehicle, but to a loaner vehicle. I had explained that it may take a bit longer than a week to get the money. Menke's offered us the use of one of their vehicles until we could get everything squared away.
Soon thereafter, because of the use of their loaner car, we were able to get the money and notified Menke's that we were ready. Once again, Joe took charge and got the work started. Our mechanic was Brad MeNeely a technician with over 35 years of experience. Once started, our engine was swapped out within a week.
Once the work was performed, both Joe and Brad reviewed the work with us and what would be necessary for maintenance and to stay within the warranty agreement given by Jasper.
Now, that's not the end of it. In the beginning of the review, I mentioned an Electronic Gremlin. Certain years of Chevy trucks are reknowned for a continuing problem concerning the Stabilitrak Traction Control System. This system is so intricate and involved that practically anything would cause the equivalent of an electronic seizure to the vehicle. Out of the blue, while you're driving, the door locks would lock and unlock several times, the dials would power on and off giving all sorts of readings, the check engine light would go on and the vehicle would start running rough and shifting very hard.
There was no rhyme or reason to what would cause this. Researching the issue on the internet only resulted in a long list of possible problems from tire speed sensors to throttle body positioning sensors to a loose connection somewhere in the wiring harness. We had tried several times to have it fixed running up bills ranging from $200 to $600 only to have hit happen again and again. One of the biggest problems was that it wouldn't happen with any warning or regularity. Usually, when it happened, it would fix itself within 20 minutes and we couldn't get to a mechanic in time for them to see what happened.
Luckily, we went back to Menke's for the initial 500 mile oil change on the new engine and, just as we arrived, the truck had another episode. Joe went right outside and, grabbing a mechanic (I think it was Brad Meneely, again) was able to fix it within fifteen minutes. This after having half a dozen mechanics looking at it and giving us a similar number of explanations and fixes.
Menke's has proven to us that they are an honest and reliable mechanic, something that's as hard to find as hen's teeth. Though your drive may be a bit longer to get to them in Newburgh, the professionalism, honesty and efficiency are more than worth the drive.
Not only will I be taking all of my vehicles to them for repair, but I'll go the extra mile to have them do the service such as oil and filter changes, as well. I trust very few people under the hood of my second biggest investments and I know I can trust Menke's to do the job right!
Many thanks to Joe Wiedrich and Brad MeNeely as well as to the Shop Owners, Mr. & Mrs. Menke's for raising and maintaining a standard for all other Auto Shops.
I recommend Menke's to all my friends!

"Thank you for talking with me on the phone after I was made aware of your concerns on Angie's List. We apologize for your inconvenience. We had left a message after the work was completed to be sure all was well, but did not hear back, so we thought things were working as they should. We call back all our customers after repairs are completed to be sure customers are satisfied. We last had your van in our shop 7/31/14. We offer a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty so we would have replaced if we'd known. Sometimes we get inferior parts, or have to switch to a different brand part to solve some of our rare problems. Again we are so sorry you were not happy and wish we would have had the chance to correct the problem. In our 38 years in business, it has always been our policy that if we cannot fix your car, we will refund your money. We mailed you a complete refund for all the work we did. I hope you have received by now. Again we're so sorry and hope you will give us another chance down the road. Barb & Vernie Menke"
