I got an estimate from Paul. He claimed to be the best and work in many high end homes. He promised to work nights and weekends if needed to get the job done and he would personally be there everyday working. He was the highest bid by far.
At first he never showed up. He had workers come in for him. They did not do a very good job. They couldn't cut a straight line. They also got paint all over the wood work. They took too many breaks. One guys van also leaked oil in my driveway and in the street in front of my house. I finally confronted Paul when I had a dozen things to point out after they had "finished" the upstairs. He did finally come in himself to work and corrected his workers mistakes. Im very angry that things had to be done twice. Once he got to downstairs things went a bit quicker. He told my wife that we would get work discounted for all the problems yet when leaving on the final day he wanted all his money. As soon as he left I found numerous more problems and let him know. Nothing but more excuses from him and he has yet to come back. Places were missed with no paint. He painted over spackle that had not been sanded. He was no where near professional nor were his workers. He made excuse after excuse about everything. I should not have paid him until I actually had time to go through with a fine tooth comb. The only reason he ever got to paint high end homes is because his wifes doctor friends hired him. I would not use and feel stupid that I could have had the same work done for 25% less. Unfortunately with any contractors its a crapshoot and hard to even get them out for estimates. I feel bad for the people I didn't hire. They probably would have done much better work and actually needed the money.
