Schmucker Roofing

 I had some issues with the roofing because there was some deterioration of the shingles. This was so because of the manufacturer. John Schmucker the owner of this company gave us a hard time.  He would not honor the warranty and made me go back to the manufacturer. Even though there were cracks in the shingles they would not replace them. I was annoyed about that. I will not say anything negative about this guy nor will I say anything totally positive either.  If I have any roofing done in the future I will not use this company again. They were the original roofers. A few shingles flew off in the wind and so they came back and replaced them. But they charged me $150 for those.  I had to go up there and take pictures to submit a claim to the original manufacturer. I went through all that and I had to do all that myself.  I got a report back from the shingles company. Schmucker would not do anything. I lost a lot of good will for him because of that. He just put a roof for me with a guarantee for 30 years but I did not get the warranty from him.  I cannot say anything positive about him and I really did not like his attitude either. He was kind of nasty. He was not professional.  When he did the roofing job he left behind some extra shingles so I got somebody to put them back on.  When I called his attention to this problem he responded. The only way he responded was that he advised me to take the photograph of the cracked shingles, take the shingles off and replace them with the extra ones that he left behind. He kept himself out of the picture. I had to do everything myself.  I did not like his attitude. He needs to improve his personality.   

I talked to both Marvin and Steve by phone.  We are moving from Northwest Indiana to Fort Wayne, the new house had a small roof leak.  They went out to look at it and fixed it, right on the spot, we had never met face to face and they just trusted me for the money.  They only asked for $50.00, but I gave them $70 just because I appreciated the trust they showed to me and the timliness that they responded.
(you wouldn't fin this kind of trust in Northwest Indiana for sure!)

I learned when I met Marvin that they can actually do much more than roofing work, they can do remodels and general construction as well.

I will be calling them in the future for anything that I need!

We were recommended to use their services by people who had worked for them before. Everything went great. They were professional, pleasant and thorough. We have a 30 year warranty on the shingles. We did have several people out with written estimates and so we could compare the prices. If need be, then I would consider them again and I would also recommend them to others.
