Wood Brothers Remodeling

Matt came and did an inspection of my rental house roof. Recommended a new roof. His bid was mid-range - but he showed up on time. His workers showed up on time and on schedule. His workers were tidy and efficient. He followed up on some wood repair and completed the work on time and without any change orders or up charges. I also had him look at the roof on my residence. He was fair and honest - and told me that I didn't need a roof yet. From my house, he could see my neighbor had roof damage. He walked over and knocked on her door and let her know. She didn't use him - although she did have her roof repaired two months later. I liked Matt - and believe him to be an honest roofer running an honest company. I would hire him again - in fact, my Dad just used him on his home because he did such a good job on mine. I would recommend him and use Woods Brothers again.

The siding was done well. The deck steps were not done as nicely as I had hoped. The rails were not cut evenly and had to be redone at my request. The rails from one area to another area did not transition at the same place, one is lower that the other and doesn't look professionally done. The spindles were not spaced as we requested they are farther apart than we wanted.
My main issue is that the crew was not properly supervised. I had to send pictures of bad workmanship to the owner. I felt someone should of look at their work at the end of each day but that didn't happen. There were days when they didn't show up or call. They would go on break and leave my pole barn door open, yard gate open and I felt they should of shown more responsibility. They caulked around my garage and got caulk on my brick. I had to request that they clean this off, it was so messy looking. I felt like was the supervisor of this project. Some of my communications with the owner were less than professional. I did not feel like the customer.
I am glad the work is done, but I would not call them again nor would I refer them to anyone.

Since I work Monday thru Friday, on Thursday the 17th I left a message with my cell phone number in case he needed to contact me should he come back later  that week as he noted.  Since that time I have called each week leaving a detailed message with contact info. I found another contact number listed on my "Agreement" that belongs to a partner/owner perhaps named  James Watson and left a message on that line as well. In my messages I have indicated my hesitancy to make any other arrangements until I hear from him. I also reiterated that if they were unable to do the job at this time for any reason, to just let me know one way or another. At this point, Wood Bros. has my e-mail address, cell phone, work phone, and home phone numbers. On 5/9/14, I left 2 additional messages. On 5/12/14, I left a message on each of the 3 phone lines available and sent another e-mail. Later on the evening of 5/12/14, I received my first response via e-mail from Matt since his visit to my home on 4/14/14. In this e-mail, he stated that he was sorry and had been down in his back and would call me the next day to schedule. I did not receive a call. On 5/21/14 10AM, I sent another e-mail to Matt recalling his promise to call on 5/13/14 to schedule and asking him to contact me as soon as possible. After this e-mail, I called the 3 contact numbers that I had for the business leaving messages for Matt on 2 of the lines. On the 3rd call, I  actually spoke to a human being for the 1st time since 4/14/14, his business partner, James Watson. I thanked him for answering my call & summarized my difficulties with contacting Matt. He stated that he would contact Matt right away & have him call me. Today is 5/22/14 and I have not received any calls or e-mails from Matt. I have only owned my home for 5 years but have had multiple repairs and services performed without difficulty. This is the worst experience I have ever had dealing with any type of contractor. I definitely do not want anyone else to have to go through a similar experience. The friend who recommended the company is now embarrassed and states that she will no longer recommend Wood Bros. to others.
