A-1 Dave's Tree Service

Dave was quick to come out with an estimate. When I called to hire him he said he would be out in a week and he would call. He never did call and after a week we called and were told the same thing. We didn't hear from him in 2 weeks and hired another company. A week later, Dave's Tree Service showed up at 8:30 in the morning to do the work. Since all the workers and trucks were here I allowed it.
Dave knocked at the door to receive payment while I saw the men working. As soon as I paid him,everyone left. There were roots sticking out of the ground plus there are thick roots still left in the ground. I am not able to put down grass seed until this is corrected. I attempted twice to call Dave but he never returned the phone calls.
I am very disappointed and will have to spend additional money to have this fixed. Cheaper isn't always better.

This was a big job and the crew worked hard to complete it as planned. Crew members were friendly and professional. They know what they're doing. Clean up was done quite well. The company owner himself came out to bid on the job. He was kind and professional. The price was right, too. I signed the proposal on the spot. We needed to have the large spruce tree removed before work could begin on another job we had scheduled -- a full roof tear off and replacement, so we had to request a quick turn around from the time the contract was signed. This was busy season for tree removals and pruning. We were fortunate to have had a company doing the work that was willing to accommodate our needs.

Dave's estimate was, I kid you not, $1000 lower than another estimate I received. Due to poor weather, Dave couldn't come out when he originally promised. That was OK, it happens. However, he didn't come on the good weather day that he promised either. Instead, he randomly showed up on another day altogether, with no call or communication. That was not OK.

The location of the tree required a truck being driven through my large yard. Unfortunately, the narrow width of my driveway meant he or his crew had to drive over my neighbor's lawn to reach my yard. My neighbor was very upset as the truck made ruts in his lawn. Well, it made ruts in my lawn too. I have a double-wide gate at the entrance to the yard and the ruts were so deep that now the gates hang crooked and the dogs can escape from under them. In the rear of the yard, it looks like the truck was doing 360's. The tree was removed, the stump wasn't ground 100% and a big mess was left behind. Plus the huge ruts in the yard make it almost impossible to mow the lawn. You have to be very careful when walking because all of sudden, you've stepped in a rut and lost your balance. I'm now going to have to consult a landscaper to see what I can do to level out the yard from all the truck damage.

We did ask Dave what could be done about the ruts. He came back out to take a look and said, and quot;nothing.and quot; He also promised to grind the stump a little better, but never did. Maybe that's a good thing. I would not hire him again despite the cost differential. You get what you pay for.

They have a very good reputation. I have knows them for a long time. He does wonderful work. He helped me once when I was trying to cut a branch. He stopped by and cut that for me and did not charge me anything. He is a very nice person. He is very dependable. He always comes when he says he is going to come. His workers are very good at what they do. The big thing is that they clean up after they finish the work. You would not know that they had been here. They take everything and grind it up and take everything away. They even clean the roof. They are very busy people. They get in and out in no time. They are also one of the most reasonable companies.

The guy was wonderful. He came in with a price that was five times lower that what we would have expected to pay. He did an excellent job and they have all the heavy equipment that is necessary to remove very large trees. He did the work for $400 and $60 to grind the stump. I was thrilled. The tree was two feet in diameter at the base of the tree and I just couldn't believe it. They did exactly what they said they would do and they did it on time. They were efficient and fast. They didn't charge more than they said they would charge.
