We had our entire home system replaced by Mike King Heating&Cooling. They were quick, professional and did quality work. Anytime I have needed their assitance, they are always quick to respond. Melissa in the office is both patient and pleasant to work with when you call in for service. Excellent Experience - highly recommend.

The technician confirmed that the geothermal was not working correctly. There was one part which prevented the compressor from switching from cooling mode to heating mode, meaning I had been cooling my house with the geothermal while heating it with the electric, causing my electric bill to skyrocket. He replaced this component and another component that he said was close to failure. It took him longer than I expected to find and fix the issue, but I'm not in a position to complain, as I am no expert, and he did fix a huge problem. The technician was courteous and did not leave a mess. I asked several questions pertaining to my system and he seemed very knowledgeable.

Mike King's work from initial consultation to completion and billing was excellent overall. He was very thorough in inspecting our HVAC system and in explaining the proposed solution. He thoroughly answered all of the questions I had at the initial consultation and promptly and substantively responded to followup questions point-by-point. One part of the estimate involved improvements in the return air system, but could only be approximate since what needed to be done could only be known in the course of installing the new system. He was upfront about the uncertainty of the figure, but in fact the actual cost came in somewhat under the general estimate he was able to give.
The Mike King crew arrived at the agreed-upon date and stayed on the job for 4 days until everything was complete. They were great about cleaning up the premises and hauling away debris. While the furnace and air conditioning units had to be replaced anyway, we were most concerned to solve the problem of a 10-degree differential in cooling between the upstairs and downstairs. The Tempstar zonal furnace system Mike recommended solved the problem completely. They noticed and fixed smaller elements (return air vents, direction of some blower vents) that have maximized the efficiency of this new system. Overall there was great attention to detail. When considering equipment, Mike King identified rebates available and promptly sent the necessary forms.
There were two issues with the work that should be noted, but this does not take away from the high level of satisfaction that we have with Mike King's firm:
(1) Shortly after the crew left on the last day I noticed a drip from a pipe coming from a water softener near the new furnace. I called the office right away and emailed pictures of the leak. The same workman came back almost immediately and put on a new joint. About 10 days later the fitting failed. Fortunately I happened to be home and heard the pipe burst and was able to turn off the water. (It would have damaged expensive flooring throughout the house had I not been right there when it failed.) I made an emergency call and they sent another worker back the same day to do a more thorough fix. The firm could not really explain how or why this happened and is upfront that it does not do plumbing. But if so. the workman ought to have stressed that I needed to contact a regular plumber to ensure that the problem was taken care of. But it is consistent with the excellent service I received that Mike King personnel did not just say, "We're sorry, but we're not responsible for plumbing--you'll have to call a plumber to resolve this. Not only did they address the problem, but were very sympathetic and undertook to fix the problem right away.
It's possible that a workman did not cause the leak and that it could have failed anyway at some point. But it is a good lesson as to why it is important that any firm one uses should be fully insured. There could have been thousands of dollars in loss.
(2) In cleaning the dryer duct, the workmen found and removed a bird's nest, thus averting the real chance of a fire. They installed a wire mesh screen on the exterior duct opening. A couple of weeks later, however, the dryer didn't sound right and I noticed that lint had built up against the screen, blocking the ventilation. I solved it by detaching part of the screen so lint would no longer catch. If they clean dryer vents regularly, this is a possibility the installers should be aware of and either not use the same type of screen or tell the homeowner to check to make sure such a buildup does not occur.

The staff is very knowledgeable; I was having a problem with my furnace and he came out, had a look at it and told me what was wrong with it.  I would recommend them to others.  I would use them again in the future if I needed to.

We had Mike's employees come to our home to check out a funny noise our old furnace was making. They were there on time and found a horrible situation! The furnace was exhausting into our home because of a faulty flue and they also found a crack in the heat exchanger. They quickly repaired the flue and called Mike to check out the crack. He came to our home and assesed the crack, while it meant a new furnace it was OK for a few days until we could have the new furnace installed. Mike gave us several options and recommendations on furnaces with several price ranges. He also recommended to have additional fresh air intakes added to the second story to even out the heat distrubution. We also decided to have central air installed. When Mike's guys did the work I was expecting to clean up a mess where they cut into the ceilings for the intakes and where they replaced the furnace. I was so wrong! When I came home from work everything was spotless. They had cleaned up the mess where they cut into the ceilings and you couldn't tell they had been in and out several times. The house is the same temperature upstairs as downstairs, no cold spots, and best of all our utility bills have actually dropped a little. The new furnace is more efficient and uses less natural gas and the air unit uses less electricity than fans and keeps the house comfortable in the summer. I would recommend Mike King to anyone, his employees are so polite and professional.

Let me begin by stating up front I can't begin to say enough good things about Mr. King and his company.  After a horrid experience with another local company, I contacted Mr. King.  He came out that afternoon, and gave me an estimated price range of what I needed done, which he described in detail, as well as why it had to be done that way (building code changes from when my house was built in 1952).  As the job was somewhat dependent upon weather conditions, a few days passed, but the next non-raining day we had Mr. King called, asking if that afternoon was an opportune time to do the work.  It was and they showed up promptly and completed the work efficiently and professionally.  The final price was the lowest of the price range he had given me (a very pleasant surprise) -- $175 cheaper than the other company had wanted to charge me.  A contractor friend of mine who looked at the work they had done bringing the pipe thru the roof commented on what a good job they had done on sealing around it and that they had added flashing like it should be done which apparently some do not.

Again, I *HIGHLY* recommend Mr. King and his company!

The service call response was very prompt. The technition diagnosed the issue but also called the company owner in for confirmation due to the serious nature. Mike King then completely explained the issue and gave options of repair or replace. They called and got shipping prices for the replacement parts and the timing and gave me the information to make a decision.
