$7,300
Best Heating and Cooling installed a $7,300 boiler system in my house that never worked properly, that they were unable to effectively troubleshoot, and that we had to hire other companies to replace three years later. When a component of my boiler heating system broke in December 2017, I needed a quick fix to keep the heat on and the pipes from freezing. Best Heating and Cooling convinced me that it was worth replacing the entire boiler and the domestic hot water tank (both of which still worked but were older) with a new, high-efficiency combi unit that they claimed to have used in other houses. From day-one, the new system did not work as effectively as the old equipment. Condensation was leaking out of the chimney because the exhaust was not installed per the manufacturer’s specifications. We could not get hot water at faucets in the house because of low flow rates. Rooms that had been comfortable previously now had no heat at all. Pumps turning on and off would shake the whole house. Whenever we called Best with a problem (we called often with many), they always came over promptly, but the problems would remain unresolved or would reappear shortly. A new heating/hot water system should not be this unreliable from the start. Over time, I became convinced that Best was unable or unwilling to do what needed to be done to get my boiler system functioning properly. After years of problems, Best made me (the customer) search the owner’s manual for parts numbers and order them directly from the manufacturer at great expense—parts which did not solve the problems or that they never actually installed. This situation was very frustrating as a homeowner and inconvenienced my family. Best should have paid for another company to replace the systems when they realized that they couldn’t perform the necessary repairs, but they refused to do so. I hired new companies to replace the boiler and install a new hot water tank at my own expense with no reimbursement from Best. In the end, the job cost me twice as much as it should have but my systems are all working perfectly now that the system Best Heating and Cooling originally installed has been replaced. I do not recommend Best Heating and Cooling for HVAC work.

hard to explain...but I know they knew they could have blocked that off....and should have as that tells me the air flow situation dollar for dollar on a unit is determined by how efficient the hot gets to where it needs to go...verses escaping out of the duct with a floor covering it...and just blowing in between the basement ceiling and the main floor....hard to explain...but trust me...and hey Andrew or Steve...if you want to argue this point...you have my number. Not only that...but in doing my taxes for the previous year I had paid them over $800 in various repairs to the old furnace....seems I should have just gotten a new one then....
I just feel like they charge based on what their bills are....I also had new duct work put under a house...and the year before I was told $600 and it was a different problem....following year when I had the money I called up for the $600 job and it turned into a $1700 job and I again trusted them...only to go over after they pulled the old duct work out and it was not in any worse shape than it was the last time I was under that crawl space about 9 months prior...then 3 months later ...tenants called and said one of the ducts were not blowing and they went back out charged me to hook up register...that should have been hooked up to begin with.......since that's what I thought I paid for the first time.
Steve...had hired a guy that ended up working for him....picked him up every day from one of my homes....the kid ripped him off ....Steve called me and I called the cops and had the kid removed because he didn't even live there...I got sued for calling the cops and had to go to court and Steve charged me $100 per hour for 2 hours to be my witness. He got his stuff back from the kid...I got sued for having the cops remove him....Thats when I paid him last....$200 for 2 hours in Feb. of this year and the case got continued because of the weather....and Steve said he had to be in Indy that day and that is why he was charging me $100 per hour...based on the weather and the van he drives....he could no more have made it to Indy than the guy coming in for my court case could make it to court.
..I have used them for some time now...I have decided that I am going to move on. I have found someone else that I feel I can at least trust to do the work that really needs to be done and not nickel and dime me etc. Good luck...use them if you want....Oh...no furnace they put in has a place to change the filters unless you take the front off....I have had that issue fixed so tenants will be more able and willing to change furnace filters once per month......I use Warren Lowe he is a Licensed HVAC and Licensed Electrician....over all....I do like Steve and Andrew at Best...just don't feel like I can use them with confidence anymore.

"I have no idea what this woman is talking about--her first three words "It's kind of hard to explain" followed by her rambling paragraphs says it all"
