We were told 3 times by the individual that the project would be started on a specific date. This never happened and we were ready to occupy a building on the property until our home was built. I called him in January of 2010 and asked if he could set the septic tank for us and if not to just say so and we would find another installer. He came 2 days later and put in the septic tank and billed us $1000.00 which we paid. When the weather turned good in March the foundation for our home was dug using consideration for the flagged septic field and perimeter drains. The block was layed and the frame began going up. We had not had any contact from the installer since January when one day he showed up and said that the septic could not be installed because the house had been set on the septic field. He then went to the Brd of Hlth and pulled the permit. We have since had a subsequent reputable installer come out to give us another estimate and he brought the Brd of Hlth representative with him. Both have said that the septic cannot be put where it was originally ok'd for and that the tank was unusable because it was set too deep. The new installer could not believe that the B of H had even allowed the permit to begin with due to the grade of the land. If this installer had just followed through on his initial committment, this whoe mess could have all been avoided. The septic would have been in place and everyone would have known exactly where it was and how to avoid it rather than trying to guess from the flags. As a result we will have to incur an additional cost of approzamately $5000.00 dollars for an up graded system.
